Just to put this out there, again ...

Socialism and capitalism are systems that countries use to run their money, not the whole government. Also, almost every nation is what we call 'mixed economies,' with bits of both; some industries are run by socialist ideals and some by capitalist. We think of the US as a capitalist society overall, for example, but we still have plenty of industries that are owned by the people, run by the government, their products or services distributed according to need. Fire fighting is a good example. We tried pay-per-use fire fighting. It didn't work out.

Communism is a type of government. Its big dumb idea was to take socialism to what the Communists said was its logical conclusion. Make every industry 100% socialist, and eventually social classes would even out, and the country wouldn't need money or even government any more — one big, happy commune. The problem is that it is autocratic; it put someone in charge to steer the country toward happy-land, but autocrats are not known for giving up power once they have it, and now it's a constant state of promising total equality, but delivering corruption and brain-drain and vicious beatings and all of those autocratic things.

Communism is an autocratic form of government, that uses socialism for its money. The socialism, like everything, is dictated, so it sucks.

I think that's also why the US seems to oppose it so hard; because we built our whole country around DEMOcracy (demos = people), which we mostly still value very much, while it is a system of AUTOcracy (auto = one dude), which makes us put our fists up. Same with fascism and absolute monarchy. We're just like that.

Oh, ok. Depends on how little, I spose. I think it should be minimized. Socialism turns economic decisions, where everyone is free to decide for themselves how to proceed, into political decisions where we vote and everyone must conform to the desires of the majority. Most of the time, that isn't necessary and should be avoided.

Safety ets are no such conerstone. Capitalis never needs bailouts and before you start bailing out a company is never necessary and it is never bailing out the system of capitalism

The government and it was not ALL of the banks or auto industries or even any hoiusing market.

It was select businesses who lobbied for bailouts which is not what you claim. It is not bailing out THE SYSTEM

The great depression was well on it's way to recovery when government efforts to solve it simply dragged it out longer.

Capitolism always succeeds and history proves you wrong. Selectively helping some people save their failing business is NOT bailing out capitalism
