IRS Fires 6,000 Workers as Trump Slashes Government

Firing a bunch of IRS workers during tax season

What could go wrong?

Well on the good side there’ll be less audits of complicated cases so some rich ducks will save some money (and our debt will grow) if you think that’s good…

Oh and refunds will be slower. But who needs those right?

Butbutbutbut the rich! Hilarious.

I had to pay, and I'll bet my check is cashed right away.

You realize that A.I. was created by the same people that brought us spell checker, auto-correct and self-driving cars, right?

Anybody that understands technology knows that A.I. really stands for "Automated Idiot"!
Most errors on tax returns are mistakes in adding and subtracting. There should be a computer program that can quickly scan for those errors.

6000 is nothing in the grand scheme of things
There’s more than 100,000 working for the IRS. A 6% cut of superfluous “workers” is definitely a drop in the bucket. When I worked for a corporation that wasn’t making money, they terminated 1/3rd of the workforce.

So you’re the only one that matters?

All those Republicans who are waiting for refunds…. Fuckem?
Do you know what you are typing? Those Republicans and others who are waiting for refunds, are waiting for their own partial return of tax money they were forced to pay into the system. We are in a tough phase that may currently be slightly uneven in its effects. Two trillion-dollar yearly deficits! With the lower classes on more of fixed incomes earning the brunt of the results of high inflation the last 4 years.

I matter a lot, to me.

I'd rather pay, that way I have had the use of my money during the year, and it doesn't change the amount I have to pay. I earned about $70 in interest on that money owed, and while it doesn't sound like much it adds to the pile of other money I've saved during the year. For example, I save $300/yr. by cutting my own hair (and I get the cut I want).

The IRS doesn't audit every return. To compensate for a reduction in their workforce they will just reduce the number of audits. No problemo.

My brother worked for a very profitable company but because of continuous problems with their workers union they finally got fed up and closed the plant and moved it to another state.

Yup. Some of these unions get so greedy that they drive their employer away.

In this case the shop workers were well paid and happy. It was their union leadership that filed petty grievances and called for work shutdowns all the time. The company finally had enough.

A supermarket that I had worked for had resisted unionization for years but finally had to sign a contract when the employees went on strike. The store closed six months later. It was in a great location but never opened again as a food store. The state bought it and turned into an office building.

Yeah what are we going to do without all those IRS bureaucrats to write the checks & lick the envelopes?

Has nothing to do with performance.

Many layoffs outside of government don’t have anything to do with performance either. If anything, most layoffs occur because leaders over expanded and/or created bloat and redundancy - which is something Government Bureaucrats are known for.

Then just say that, but these dopes don’t have any idea what they’re talking about or doing.
