IRS Fires 6,000 Workers as Trump Slashes Government

Thursday about 6,000 employees would be fired, a person familiar with the matter said, in a move that would eliminate roughly 6% of the agency's workforce

if 6,000 was 6% of their workforce then the IRS had about 100,000 employees, or about 2,000 employees per continental state. That means that the 87,000 they were supposed to hire was a near DOUBLING of their staff!

Why do you want a government bloated with unnecessary workers, ineffectiveness, inefficiency, incompetence, waste, fraud and corruption?

Show your evidence--with a credible source please--that the workers to be laid off are necessary/essential and you might have a reasonable argument. Otherwise you're just trolling and spewing the assigned talking points to criticize everything whether or not the criticism has any merit.
They’re rehiring thousands of them.

A.I. will replace lots of government paper shufflers.
Why stop at "lots"?

Personally, I'd prefer ALL, machines don't need salaries, perks, medical insurance and bloated pensions.

New federal government hiring policy:
"You can hire as many new employees as you want as long as none of them breathe"

Firing a bunch of IRS workers during tax season

What could go wrong?

Well on the good side there’ll be less audits of complicated cases so some rich ducks will save some money (and our debt will grow) if you think that’s good…

Oh and refunds will be slower. But who needs those right?

An executive at the U.S. Internal Revenue Service told staffers Thursday about 6,000 employees would be fired, a person familiar with the matter said, in a move that would eliminate roughly 6% of the agency's workforce in the midst of the critical tax-filing season.

All I can say to that is -- Sorry Mods. Hope this doesn't break the "Clean Start" rule but.......

Oh so you want them to rehire the incompetent, the unnecessary, the inefficient, the ineffective, the corrupt? How do you justify that?
How do you know that any of that is true?

Because Elmo claims it?

So you believe Elmo because you trust him

For no real reason
My reason is that he has given me no reason not to. People who keep their promises/word are pretty believable. I see good thing after good thing after good thing reported and that also increases the trust. I think that's a very real reason and a pretty good one.
