Third IRS chief since the new admin. This one quit when the Admin started using confidential IRS tax information to target potentially illegal immigrants.
The acting head of the Internal Revenue Service plans to resign, the Treasury Department said on Tuesday, a move that comes after the agency struck a controversial deal to share tax data on undocumented immigrants with federal agents.

Commissioner Melanie Krause will become the tax-collecting agency's third leader to exit since the start of the year, a chaotic period marked by the firing of thousands of its employees mandated by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency.

Her departure also comes amid the busiest time of the year for the IRS, with the filing deadline for most individual tax returns falling on April 15.

On Monday, the IRS and Department of Homeland Security finalized an agreement under which taxpayer data will be provided to federal immigration authorities to help them locate undocumented immigrants.

Officials with the Treasury Department, of which the IRS is a part, had largely bypassed Krause in recent days in seeking to give immigration authorities access to the private taxpayer information, the Washington Post reported.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem signed the data-sharing agreement on Monday, even though IRS attorneys advised that the deal likely violated privacy laws, the Washington Post said.

"Melanie Krause has been leading the IRS through a time of extraordinary change," a Treasury spokesperson said in an emailed statement, confirming her resignation.

Without mentioning the data agreement, the spokesperson added that the agency was "in the midst of breaking down data silos that for too long have stood in the way of identifying waste, fraud, and abuse and bringing criminals to justice."

Who Is Melanie Krause?

Krause, who joined the IRS in October 2021 as the agency's chief data and analytics officer, has more than a decade of experience in government roles, holding positions at the Government Accountability Office and the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General, prior to joining the IRS.

Given how every agency she has had positions with have been proven to be FUBAR, I'd say it's not much of a loss.

This should help the US, similar to getting rid of activist judges. We need team players.

Insanity is government is likely to lead us into total authoritarian fascism.

And we all need to look like each other and smell like each other and dood the same things all at once together.

Come on, kid. Even you aren't that dumb.

Chaos rules at the moment.
There is no chaos. Just how blind are you? There is a plan being followed and enacted. The only chaos going on is in the collective left's tiny little brain.

We need to identify and remove illegals from this country. The clown show left keeps trying to make a political point by saying that illegals contribute greatly to our economy and pay taxes.

It was just released last week that millions of illegals have SS numbers and are voting.

What better way to find them then through their tax records.

An IRS chief who is trying to undermine the government decides to resign is not chaos; It's a positive step forward.

So kid, try to keep up.

Chaos will rule as long as there is an obstructionist Democrat party.
LOL, this is all internally created, nothing to do with Democrats.

Wake the fuck up and smell the coffee, kid.

The world has been turned upside down, and they say there is no chaos.

I hope they're just lying, because they may really believe that.
I suspect it's about equally split. Half know it but won't admit it, the other half is just so brainwashed they will believe what they are told to believe no matter the evidence in front of them.

What's wrong with the government agencies sharing information among themselves to find miscreants?
IRS tax information is like HIPAA, its extremely confidential. Remember when you and Orange Jesus lost their minds when tax info was slipped out?

If its legal, I don't care. Is it legal is the question.
