They left in protest at a stream of threats issued by Trump to bomb Iran, and even to kidnap the Iranian negotiating team unless the strait of Hormuz is reopened.

His TACO threats do no good in getting Iran to do what he wants. The thug threats do the opposite. The bully threats, by Trump, may work with a small contractor when negotiating a building project. But not in negotiating peace with a nation. Even a nation as small as Iran who has the majority of their military gone.

That could be one reason. But, I think, the reason is the next military step would be to put boots on the ground. The cost in money and lives could be huge. Would it be another Viet Nam, Iraq or Afghanistan. Would the results be worth the cost. What are the odds of meeting your goals?
Trump thought this would be a few week war. The Iranian people, who hate the regime, would rise up and take out the regime. His goals of regime change would be met and the nuclear issue could be solved with the new government.
He was told that the chance of that happening by, just bombing the hell out of them was small. He listened to Netanyahu instead of his own intelligence team.
