Trump can't control Israel, nobody can, only strong sanctions can restrict Israel, but all nations are weak when it comes to sanctioning Israel.

"It" started way earlier than that. At the least over a century ago as aftermath of World War One, and "solutions" for the Middle East such as Balfour.
Iran has been a nation of divided and violent factions for a long time.
One major, recent factor was the UK & USA seeking to establish a pro West government to prevent the Soviets taking it over. Ironically mostly to assure a secure Lend-Lease pipeline into Russia while ti was fighting Germany during WWII.
Then came post war 'Cold War' and need to shore up Iran's ability to avoid Soviet expansion into it.

Thing is, which many like you frail to see or grasp, is that disposing the Shah didn't have to result in a theocracy of Islamic fundamentalists.
