That was a post to someone making claims counter to scientific consensus so I was asking for his credentials.

Credential this:

Like I am going to listen to some poster making outlier claims without understanding if he is highly qualified to make the claim or not.

Which means you are just like schmidlap, who doesn't understand anything about the science he claims to worship. They could tell him is butt is on backwards and he'd be off to the doctor. If you've read any of EMH's posts, they are often loaded with data. He makes his argument. He doesn't need to hide under the skirt of a community that you guys don't even understand much less not provide analysis.

How else can I evaluate extraordinary claims unless I see extraordinary credentials?

How would you know to judge either one. What makes anything so extraordinary.

And do you ask for the credentials for the climate scientist who lie to you on a frequent basis, who have cried wolf for so long that nobody listens to what might really be a relevant subject, or who can't build a predictive model to save their fannies?

And yet you go with the minority opinion of scientists regarding religion. Scientists are often wrong and make assumptions that are hardly factual or scientific to validate their theories. Cases in point, both creationism and AGW.

No fraud is deserving of a death penalty. That would constitute cruel and inis punishment.

Assuring 100% accuracy is ridiculous. But a penalty for mistake. Assertions would be a governmental penalty on freedom of speech. Maybe you’ve heard of it?

Total asset forfeiture would punish family members. It would be a denial of due process for them.

Deprivation of any financial gain from a fraud is another matter. The family isn’t entitled to such monies.

Bottom line is this: you go way too far.

It is ok to urge that these frauds be held accountable for their conduct. Much of it could qualify as criminal. So far, so good. Prosecute them. But the balance of your recommendations are obviously out of bounds.

I don’t believe the 6000 year old theory. There are many creationists that don’t interpret a “day” to be the same as our 24 hour days.

There a downside. It is called a far lower standard of living for everyone if CO2 emissions take precedence over advances that rely on fossil fuels. Notice that only wealthy counties are truly interested in such nonsense and even many of those don’t really care, they just pretend to. If less fortunate or adversarial countries can get extraordinarily rich countries like the US to impede their productivity in the name of saving the planet, it helps them catch up.

The nuts are people like you who believe the green lobby because they feed you a bunch of stuff that you don’t understand, but it sounds good. You guys are like the old lady who goes to a shady car mechanic who feeds her a load of bull when all she really needs is some wiper fluid. And yes, scientists buying theories of other scientists build on these theories, but when the underlying data is wrong or insufficient, the theories are flawed. Speaking of the age of the earth, if it is indeed 4.5 billion years old, do you think relying on a range of data that is barely a blip on the earth’s age chart really makes any sense?
