The whole idea of remembering the past, dirty laundry and all, is for history not to repeat & mankind progress from it's animalistic tendencies. But I'm sad to say the social media platforms show nothing has been learned as the same behavior has surfaced still to this day. Sure over half the online hate posts are orchestrated by foreign groups, a few to destabilize us or payback for our interfering in their revolts(like Iran), many are anti our gov't(both parties), some are even left wing tactics to tarnish social media platforms they can't control free speech on, & as a narrative tactic against political opposition.
But the propaganda they spew is missinformed, ignorant, selective recognition and misslabelling of prominent figures-their faith/race, so it's easy to combat with information.
But where does this propaganda and source of hate stem from, getting to the source of it all. Rome's nature to swallow up cultures through trashing them is a starting point, they did to Jews/Judaism what they did to prior cultures, claim they had fallen & their gods were no longer in favor of them & that they were the new authority & tax collector of that God.
So Rome hiding begind it's religious authority=The Vatican Is Responsible For Their Teachings & The Holocaust; Its Foundation is In Christian AntiSemitism, as
Nazis were actually agents for Christendom.
In 1939 the Nazis barred Jews from train dining cars.
The Church's Synod of Elvira (306) forbade Jews and Christians eating together.

The Synod of Clement (535) parallels the law for the Re-establishment of the Professional Civil Service (Nazi Germany -1933) by disallowing Jews from holding public office.

The Third Synod of Orleans (538) inhibited Jews from showing themselves in the streets during passion Week. In 1938 the Nazis past a decree allowing authorities to ban Jews from the streets on certain days such as Nazi Holidays.

During the Synod of Toledo the Talmud and other books were burned. Similar book burnings were a regular event in Nazi Germany.

The law for the Protection of German Blood and Honor (1935)
parallels the Synod of Elvira (306), which prohibited intermarriage and sexual intercourse between Christians and Jews.

The fourth Lateran Council (1215) mandated the marking of
Jewish clothes with a badge. In 1941 the Nazis forced Jews
to wear a Star of David. So Christendom foreshadowed the
Nazis.

In 1222 the Council of Oxford banned the construction of new
synagogues. In 1938 the Nazis destroyed synagogues in the
entire Third Reich. Again Christendom foreshadowed the Nazis.

In 1279 the Synod of Breslau legislated for compulsory ghettoes.
In 1939 Heydrich also ordered compulsory ghettoes for Jews.
Again Christendom foreshadowed the Nazis.

The Synod of Ofen (1279) forbade Christians from selling or
renting real estate to Jews. In 1939 a Nazi decree mandated
the sale of Jewish real estate. Again Christendom foreshadowed
the Nazis.

The Council of Basel (1434) prevented Jews from obtaining
academic degrees. In 1933 the Nazis passed a law against,
"Overcrowding of German Schools and Universities" with
the same effect. Again Christendom foreshadowed the Nazis.
The Synod of Gerona (1078) forced Jews to make contributions
to the Church equal to that of Christians. The 1940
Sozialausgleichsabgabe enforced a special Jewish income tax
equal to the party contribution levied on Nazis. Again Christendom foreshadowed the Nazis.

"The Nazis 'did not discard the past; they built upon it. They didn't begin a development; they completed it.' This fact makes
ludicrous any unqualified claim that the Nazis were the enemies
of Christendom. In actuality, they were in very large measure the
agents for the 'practical' application of an established social logic."
(Hilberg, R., "The Destruction of the European Jews" Chicago:
Quadrangle, 1961), and (Eckardt, "Elder and Younger Brothers:
The Encounter of Jews and Christians" New York: Schocken
1973, 12-14).

The roots of the antisemitic "established social logic" referred to above lie in the antisemitic potential of the NT. The roots of modern antisemitism lie in the pages of the NT. Without it the Shoah (Holocaust) would never have happened.
A Disturbing Fact:
On April 19 1939 in celebration of Hitler's birthday All Catholic churches in greater Germany hoisted the Swastica in Celebration.

In b4 Holocaust deniers. The OP makes the case for it being true quite well. (but needs a source link)

I know damn well it was true. My friend's dad had a Dachau officer's dried ear on a dogtag chain.

I don't like how these people come along and try to warp history.

The Second World War and the reality of the Holocaust should be mandatory teaching in schools. Generations are ignorant and uninformed. As for the Christians of the past, blame organised profiteering Christian leaders not Jesus teaching. Some priests lost their lives openly speaking out against nazis. U.S military leaders when captured refused to expose the Jewish soldiers under his command, famously stating "we are all Jewish". Even the rabid Germans were impressed with his bravery in the face of imminent death.

There's a strong case can be made against the Catholic church. That appears to be the most specific point you've tried to make with this topic for discussion.

Can that be said to still exist in the Catholic church of today? I think maybe not, as their emphasis is more in catching up to modernity by their acceptance of evolution, while throwing out the creation myths. That is contrary to Nazi beliefs from what we know of them. Most were ardent Christians.

In addition, it can't be denied that those who lean far right have a conspicuous attachment to being believers, while atheists show a trend toward the left.

There is much to be said about the evils of combining politics and religion.

The Catholic church essentially ran the state and states around Europe for a very long time. They even have their own little sovereign state at the Vatican.

However, Christ made it plain that his kingdom was not of this world, nor could be. In fact, Constantine, the one who combined the state with the church, was not even a Christian, although he later was said to have converted on his death bed as he continued to worship the pagan Roman gods.

The evil lust for world power in man-made politics is what fuels genocide then and now and in the past.

Without the efficiency and centralized power of the state, mass genocide would not be possible and it is why this happens all throughout history, no matter their official religion or lack thereof.

The death blow to the state and Catholic church set up was literacy.

Once the printing press became available and people began to learn to read, people understood just how far off base the Catholic church had become once they read their Bibles.

All atrocities should be taught, some teach about Napolean's blood baths, but do they teach about Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Stalin's attrocities etc.
Then they can end the lesson with what they all have in common, so as to recognize & stay clear of future sadistic tyrants.
The Dead Sea Scrolls(4Q266 -7 fr 5) warned us of a rule they had back then about not listening to leaders/teachers who had been politically imprisoned as we see why through history, if only we had obeyed the simple rule we could have avoided these attrocities.
List of Political prisoners who came out with a lust for blood & hate for humanity as they turned into psychopathic murderers who caused attrocities & were the cause of many wars & murders:
Paul of Tarsus
(who was not Saul/Saul was converged into his created image, thus given the new shared named of others creating the story) used to create 70% of the Roman slanted new texts that caused over 50 million murders& thousands of wars (including this OP subject Holocaust)
The Trinity of Christs used for the converged icon used to claim Jews killed their savior & God-all were political prisoners & listening to them /following them lead to their cult followers to be slain & scattered also get blame for the 50 million murders in their Roman created Name.
Other political prisoners: Julius Caesar, Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Saddam, Arafat, Zarquawi, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, Turkey's tyrant Erodagan and I think that Islamic radical guy in Africa Mokhtar Belmokhtar who started many wars and attrocities there (the guy with one eye).
Idi Amin might be another qualifying for that list: he had similarities to Saddam: Deserted by his father at an early age, he was brought up by his mother like Saddam and came from a small Islamic tribe. President Obote put Amin under house arrest so technically he was also a political prisoner before he declared himself president & did a number on the people mainly ' hunting down Obote's supporters' much like Saddam hunted down kurds and Shiites, & his opposition supporters.
Am I missing anyone?

I submit to you the following

1. The Holocaust was just a natural continuation of the evils inflicted on Jews throughout centuries of persecution via the state. Everything that was done to Jews in Nazi Germany had already been done to them throughout the previous centuries, only on a bigger scale.

2. The Jewish genocide and persecution in Europe is not a fluke, rather, it is the norm. Looking throughout history one can't help but see the never-ending genocides, such as the Christian genocide in Armenia. Again, it was all about politics. Just look at how the Jewish prophets were murdered by the Jewish state in the OT.

3. Most of the Jewish persecution was over the fact that on average, Jews had a higher socio-economic standard of living.

In fact, when Jews were driven from entire countries, their economies fell apart.

I'm more getting at the source to learn what it is and where it stems from, so all Roads lead back to Rome the fallen empire who remained alive through it's religious (second horn -power) masking the political horn (power). It was able to invade many kingdoms without revolt through the guise of those cultures gods and collect taxes now tithes without insurrection or complaint from all those previoualy subverted nations.
Ironically if you study how Arafat's Uncle fled to Berlin & learned antisemitic propaganda which was used by Jihaadist, it reveals even that radical Islamic hate propaganda leads back to Rome. That's why getting to the source is important.

The death blow to the state and Catholic church set up was literacy.

Once the printing press became available and people began to learn to read, people understood just how far off base the Catholic church had become once they read their Bibles.
That's a bit contradictory in my opinion. The printing press introduced the bibles to the masses, and thus the masses found how far off base the bibles were with the Catholic church.

And for instance now, the bibles have nothing to say about Darwinian evolution, while the Catholic church has moved on to it's acceptance and rejection of the creation myths.

The Catholic church makes an effort to survive modern science and modern times, while the bibles can't unless they resort to a third edition.

Not to suggest that I'm not interested in your attempt to raise a valid point!

Again, the Pope was more of an emperor, dictating to kings all across Europe what they should and should not do, than a religious leader.

The Inquisitions, Jewish Ghettos, Jews forced to wear the Star of David, the Crusades, were all state-run forms of terrorism against perceived opponents of the state.

God warned Israel about the state

8 And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.

2 Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beersheba.

3 And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.

4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,

5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the Lord.

7 And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.

9 Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.

10 And Samuel told all the words of the Lord unto the people that asked of him a king.

11 And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.

12 And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.

13 And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.

14 And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.

15 And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.

16 And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.

17 He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.

18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the Lord will not hear you in that day.

19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;

20 That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.

21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the Lord.

22 And the Lord said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city.

18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the Lord will not hear you in that day.

Perhaps the most chilling words in the Bible.

Again, the Pope was more of an emperor, dictating to kings all across Europe what they should and should not do, than a religious leader.
The printed bible introduced superstitions and lies to the masses, which were largely accepted up until the 20th. century, when the nonsense could no longer be acceptable. We don't need to relate to all the stories to make the point!

The Catholic church can be credited with breaking the mold that was taught in the bibles, not the other way around. The creation myth became just too much of a contradiction to carry any further. The other more minor contradictions were reconciled by attempting to call them rhetoric only, as is the method of Ding and Meriweather. And not to even have to mention the evils of murder and slavery, as two examples, supported by the bibles!

Fwiw, I would grant you a lot more if you referred to southern baptist religious beliefs as taught in the churches. However, I don't consider those to even be religions anymore. As is the JW church a cult.
The Inquisitions, Jewish Ghettos, Jews forced to wear the Star of David, the Crusades, were all state-run forms of terrorism against perceived opponents of the state.
Some just perceived and some not! In any case, that's not naming threats, it's reaction to threats and perceived threats mostly.

You 'were' on about condemning the Catholic church, right?

18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the Lord will not hear you in that day.

Perhaps the most chilling words in the Bible.
And it never did happen and I doubt that the Catholic church still says it will happen. Attempts to frighten the flock have outgrown any usefulness with most of the more enlightened.

And for instance now, the bibles have nothing to say about Darwinian evolution, while the Catholic church has moved on to it's acceptance and rejection of the creation myths.
It's insane how often you misstate things. You have a real ax to grind.

We need to talk when you settle down. An atheist voicing opinions contrary to your religion should be strengthening your faith.

I am settled down. Can't a guy call a spade a spade without being unsettled?

An atheist voicing opinions contrary to my religion is one thing, that's not what you are doing. Don't pretend otherwise.
