Yes….another problem. I know of a young woman with four children - and four fathers. Not a ONE is paying child support. When I asked her why she doesn’t take these deadbeats to court, she told me it’s a hassle, and it’s just easier for the government to pay.

If we did NOT give her the option - check 1 for welfare, check 2 for child support - then she’d be forced to go after the fathers and the fathers would be forced to pay.

So why did Trump have it going UP? It recovered after Covid so there's that and is now only marginally higher than it was Covid hit. It is now dropping again from a peak in August; 0.4% drop IN TWO MONTHS in that bracket alone! What's gone wrong?
For TEN YEARS the over 55 age group was STEADY; after Covid it has not recovered. It is ageist to suggest that this group are not employable as they were before!!

A trillion dollar gimmick??
We estimate a lower-bound reduction in revenue for exempting all overtime pay from the individual income tax of $680.4 billion over 10 years on a conventional basis. This latest proposal would increase Trump’s already promised $6.1 trillion in tax cuts to $6.8 trillion and raise the total deficit increase of his entire tax and tariff plan to $2.0 trillion over 10 years. Further exempting all overtime pay from employee-side payroll taxes (6.2 percent for Social Security and 1.45 percent for Medicare) combined with the income tax exemption would reduce tax revenues by $1.1 trillion over 10 years.

Or maybe since the market is on a historic bull run, people older than 55 are retiring? Or just as likely they were affected by COVID and no longer healthy enough to continue working.
