Indiana is for Bigots - video and Pence running for cover

We've already tried letting the market work this out. It didn't do so well.

I'm not familiar with what goes on in Indiana. Are gays really having difficulty finding someone to take pictures and bake cakes to the point where they have no other choice than to hire a 7th Day Adventist?

As far as hiring practices go, do we really want to force Joe Hickseed's Radiator Repair Shop to hire a gay man? I don't see that advancing any cause.

You've hit the nail on the head, there were no problems and this bill wouldn't be necessary if the homos hadn't started their targeting and suing. Now it bit them in the ass as states look at ways to prevent it
It's hardly biting them in the ass, it's drawing the bigots out into the daylight, that hurts their eyes. That place is about to make CA look like they don't have any rainbow flags flying.

What better way to do that than to allow them to hang their signs? That way, you know EXACTLY who you are doing business with. Forcing people never has worked and never will work, obviously.
The force of the law worked just fine, it's why ******* can now check into whatever hotels they like, as long as they can pay the tab.

So you think they should just accept being second class citizens and be quiet about it?

I don't know what ****** is. Lol. But no, it doesn't work obviously. That is why this is happening now. You cannot change the way people think and feel by making laws. People change because they become educated in the things they don't understand. Making laws that force them only makes them angry, and then we have this right here.

******* = Blacks, and I don't give a damn what the bigots think or feel. The force of law works, well. That is why blacks can now stay at any hotel they like.

She thinks they should go back in the closet, and hide.

Isn't that the purpose for laws? If everybody wanted to do it anyway, there would be no need for any laws.

I can't believe that. I'll bet she is quite loving to gay and bisexual people.

That's just the thing. I don't know, but I'm guessing that gays aren't having any trouble finding jobs, bakers and photographers in Indiana. They aren't being turned away from hotels.

What this law does is that it prevents the situation where a total jerk that happens to be gay gets treated like a total jerk in return, so he sues the guy out of business on the basis of sexual orientation discrimination. If you get fired for poor performance and you happen to be gay, the lawyers will line up to represent you.

Furthermore, to equate anti-gay discrimination with racial discrimination does a great disservice to the epic struggle for racial equality in America. Blacks actually were treated like second-class citizens. Black civil rights leaders had the police and government against them, TV and newspapers against them, and they actually did have to ride in the back of the bus.

Why can't you just say "blacks" or "African Americans" or something?

And no, black people were still discriminated against. Martin Luther King's peaceful protests are what more than likely changed a LOT of hearts and minds anyways. Laws do not change the way people FEEL.

I know a lot of people with the victim mentality can always find someone to blame for their lack of success, but our laws don't really work like that. I know that might be hard to accept for someone who is used to getting an advantage when they suddenly have to share it.

Businesses that refuse to cater to homosexuals, or anyone with MONEY, are going to be a HUGE minority in today's day and age.

Nobody can enforce what somebody feels. You can, however, use the law to make them behave fairly.

I agree that the government should not force a business owner to have to do business with a person he or she does not want to do business with, but I still think it's a really stupid business decision on the part of the owner. They aren't going to "catch the gay" by making a cake for a wedding or whatever.

Right, it is a distraction. That is why people need to get over this silly bigotry. Gay is not contagious. You aren't going to go to "hell" for baking a cake or whatever either, I'm quite sure. I don't see why they have to make such a big fuss over something so menial. People should be happy that the gay couple is willing to give THEM their business. That's just my opinion.

It's not about homosexuality being contagious or anything like that. By working with, employing, providing services to, etc.... individuals whose lifestyle is contrary to what you believe, you are at least PASSIVELY, if not ACTIVELY supporting that lifestyle. It's no different than me changing banks 4 times in the last 3 years because the number of male tellers is dwindling very quickly and I won't do my business with a female teller.

Businesses that refuse to cater to homosexuals, or anyone with MONEY, are going to be a HUGE minority in today's day and age.

Which is part of why this society is going to HELL. People are more interested in money than in Right and Wrong.

No it isn't. Baking a cake for a wedding does not mean you approve of the people in the wedding party. You are just an ignorant throw-back. Thankfully, YOUR kind is a rarity in our educated and civilized society.

You're going to hell because of being a horrible person. You wouldn't know right from wrong if it slapped you upside you dumb fat head.

Think of how much time is engaged with gay issues. A largely inconsequential law is passed in Indiana and it's a bigger story that a new ground war breaking out in Yemen, mega-drought in California, the tenuous union of the Eurozone, South American counties on the verge of collapse, etc.. People want to move the NCAA tournament and pull businesses out of the state.

Roughly 2-3% of Americans are gay. Most of them don't get married. There have been about 100,000 gay marriages in the USA, a country of 325 million people.

So why are they wasting so much time trying to deny rights? We all know how it is going to turn out in the long run anyway.

When MY kind are gone, and you're right we will be sooner rather than later.... There will be nobody left to save you from yourselves and the end of the world will be upon us. I'll be sitting in Valhallah and you folks will be begging for someone to come and save you from yourselves.

You're going to hell because of being a horrible person. You wouldn't know right from wrong if it slapped you upside you dumb fat head.

Actually I'm hoping for Valhallah. I know I'll end up going out in a blaze of glory and taking several people with me, so I feel there's a reasonable chance I'll catch the eye of one of the Valkyries.
