The Union coal ministry on Monday announced plans to increase India’s coal production to 1.404 billion tonne by 2027, with an eye to further boost it to 1.577 billion tonne by 2030.

Current domestic production hovers around one billion tonne annually

That's quite a goal ....but manageable and easy to reach ....unlike western retards who fantasies about wind and solar

What we need to do is to no longer purchase anything from those that pollute like India does. It's the #1 Dirty country in the world.

Easier said than done.
India produces a huge amount of goods on the world stage....like cotton, sugar, spices, medicines and etc. They have a huge pool of cheap manpower. And the entire world uses it.
They are increasing coal production because they need the power. (Or some customer like China does) it isn't just there to sit around and collect dust.

That's right , beat down the already down trodden so you can play with your already broken wind and solar toys .

When the dollar has collapsed and the US is bleating like a stuck pig , I wonder what noises we will then hear from you and your selfish buddies

Coal thermal plants have a set of issues that if they don't address...they will pay dearly for the problems in other ways.

Coal burning produces mercury into the envirnment area surrounding the plant.

It gets into the fresh waterways....
Meaning that Rosemary's Baby might be playing out in India very soon.

Crick abu afak

There's Public Enemy #2, right after China

Go get 'em!

Decades without any consequences for China is a green light to the world. It's sinilar to pro Hamas rallies or drug issues, years of warnings about schools and your border have fallen on deaf ears. The world.will reap what we sow. As sure as Canadas Police state has destroyed our economy and future.prospects...

That's just it...
There are two sets of consequences.

The localized contamination will affect the population as they continue to burn coal.

Then because the smoke is airborne it will float around the world.

Here's a picture of smog in Shanghai...it's a clear, sunny day but the smog is choking.

They're doing that without any of the modern scrubbing technology, which stops such degradation of the air.

India is mining 11% more coal in a three year period for two main reasons:

  1. India "played nice" and built Hydroelectric plants. Unfortunately India is experiencing "less rainfall" for whatever reason that may be
(climate change or other) and the electricity demand outstrips supply and renewables are not keeping up

India has stepped up the use of coal to generate electricity in a bid to stop outages caused by lower hydroelectricity output, and as an increase in renewables is struggling to keep pace with record power demand. It is unusual for India's electricity use to spike in August, when temperatures are lower due to the annual monsoon that runs between June and September. Demand typically peaks in May, when Indians crank up air-conditioners to beat the heat, and industries operate without rain-related disruptions.

  2. The Energy ministry said "we are importing too much coal" (India's import of coal rose 22% year-on-year in fiscal 2023)

70% of India's electricity is generated from coal.

"Why should Indians be asked to reduce carbon emissions, when the West has been polluting the planet for decades, and has reaped the benefits?" he asked.

"I export these shoes to the UK and America. It's like the West has just exported its emissions to developing countries... now why should we stop?" he asked, bemused.

You do want shoes and clothes for an affordable price, right? A BIG challenge for the Worlds most populated country.

Solar and wind are piss poor technologies for producing commercial power.

Mr. Potatohead is giving India our money to build stupid EV busses and they have to charge them up some way, don't they?

Yes, very poorly. What do they do on a cloudy day? Stay at home?
Why "poorly"?
The facility includes solar panels, charging stations, onsite battery storage and backup generation.
If there is not enough stored energy, there is a backup. You know... a generator that YOU might have at your house if the power goes off.

In certain areas the power grid has shuttered generating plants not only because they burned coal but also they had excess production of electricity. If we really needed the electricity we would be burning more coal too.

We aren't a manufacturing nation any longer. Labor here is too expensive for us to remain to be. And if we remained a manufacturing nation our exports of manufactured goods would be too expensive for anyone to purchase. (wealth has its own set of problems)

So our environment is cleaner than most other industrialized nations.

But that doesn't mean that some of these industries that need the electricity are not owned by Americans. (Your mutual funds and retirement plans hard at work)

Modern scrubbing tech is expensive....
And with no restrictions....why bother?
(That's their point of view)

These other nations will only bother with being cleaner IF we pay them to....(with bribes all along the way) Otherwise....NOPE.
