The UK-based Index on Censorship organization has slammed Big Tech’s banning of Infowars, releasing a statement asserting that all “provocative” speech should be protected.

The group’s message was echoed by top attorney David A. French, who wrote a piece for the New York Times in which he argued that Big Tech colluding to ban Infowars should leave people “deeply concerned” because it was a likely abuse of power.

======================================================

With this being done to infowars maybe this incident is the shot heard around the world where news medias suddenly jump to their feet realizing wait a minute if they can shut someone down as big as he is they an shut us all down. Maybe, the fear of multiple law suites could be waking them up.

Wonder what kind of dirt is behind this one a " UK" based company now that's scary lol.

Except he hasn't been "shut down," and I see you are getting out his message here just fine, as usual.

/----/ Imagine the irony of the UK lecturing the US on freedom of speech.

This has nothing to do with "freedom of speech". People are always misusing that phrase, which means that the government cannot stifle speech; however corporations can do what they want. This is similar to a baker who didn't want to make a cake for a gay couple. It's his business, and the government sided with him. Also the USMB can delete posts or close threads. That is also within their rights.

Your freedom of speech has nothing to do with the gov't. But you don't have a freedom of speech if you use a private company to do it. Basically, you can do it on your own but XYZ corp does not have to let you use their equipment to exercise your FOS. You can use your own, but they don't have to let you use theirs.

By your definition it would be illegal for the gov't to pass a law making it illegal to yell fire in a crowd. But they did, and it's been upheld as constitutional.

/——-/ I know what the legal definition means. But the expression freedom of speech is used by many to mean freedom of expression with out being censored.

you don't think that's not a step in this process? after all, this began with "we just want to move 1 flag..." and look at us now. banning shit left and right and claiming moral superiority. (not you per se, the environment around what is going on - people saying jones needs to be eradicated and so forth - that is the true colors of this movement).
