"A Duke women's volleyball player was harassed and threatened during a game Friday night at Brigham Young. The Duke player, who is Black, was apparently called a racial slur by a BYU fan sitting in the student section. Sunday, Duke confirmed the incident from Friday and said Saturday's match against Rider was moved to a different location. One of the players (Rachael Richardson) who was subjected to the barrage of slurs, insults and threats also released a statement via Twitter on behalf of herself and the other targeted players. Richardson, a Duke sophomore, said she and her fellow African American teammates were racially heckled throughout the entire game and as the slurs grew into threats they no longer felt safe. She said the players struggled to play at their best level because of being concerned about their safety.
BYU's Athletic Department responded to the incident by saying, "All of God's children deserve love and respect ... and BYU Athletics is completely committed to leading out in abandoning attitudes and actions of prejudice of any kind and rooting out racism." BYU also said it "wholeheartedly" apologized to Duke University and "especially its student-athletes."
So I guess the triggered volleyball players couldn't handle a little good-natured heckling and now they are blowing this whole thing out of proportion. This is actually a hate crime by the blacks against Mormons .....just because Mormons up until 40 years ago believed blacks were all cursed by Satan with black skin doesn't mean anything.....If God told them this was true, who are we judge them for their beliefs?

Now, I must add that I have a personal connection to this story....I know the godmother of the person in this story, in real life....she is very well respected attorney in the Dallas-Fort Worth area...and so I value her input on what happened....I first found out about it before it went viral...not mentioned in the story is the fact...a police officer had to be appointed to the Duke bench because of threats made by fans that the black Duke players better watch their back when going back to the bus....Also not mentioned in the story is the degree the crowd encouraged the racial slurs, complete with the crowd yelling the "N-word" everytime a black player was serving the ball.....And apparently, Utah has a history of this type of thing -- as according to this former NBA player which has made it his hobby to troll Utahians online...
Former Houston Rockets guard Vernon Maxwell had words for Utah Jazz fans after the team blew a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets in the first round...
