in new interview, AOC lays the blame at GOP's feet for Speaker chaos: "the party of personal responsibility should pull itself by it's own bootstraps"

We were still given the choice.

If folks wanted to sue for peace and end a war? That is how democracies actually work you authoritarian piece of shit.

America has never delayed a presidential election, even during war

“The election, along with its incidental, and undesirable strife, has done good too,” Lincoln said days after winning it. “It has demonstrated that a people’s government can sustain a national election, in the midst of a great civil war.”
<snip>

". . .But then-national security adviser Condoleezza Rice sought to shut down speculation, citing the country’s precedent.

“We’ve had elections in this country when we were at war, even when we were in civil war, and we should have the elections on time,” she said at the time. “No one is thinking of postponing the elections.”

You can't call yourself a democracy, if you are censoring and shutting down the opposition press, and cancelling elections, which they are doing in Ukraine. Stop buying this lie already. IT isn't a liberal democracy, and the US is slowly drifting in that direction.
Dewey was the Republican Candidate in 1944. He preached about reversing the New Deal at a time when the poor and middle class depended on it to eat. For instance, my Grandfathers were involved on a Ranch and a Dairy Farm. On the ranch, they started growing sheep so they could have meat. The Steers were all sent to the Federal Government for the war. On the Dairy Farm, most of the milk, butter and cream was released for the war effort. And they were the lucky ones in comparison to some of the Urban dwellers. The hard times went directly from the Depression into WWII. Instead of feeding and housing the depression people, the same thing was sent overseas for the War Effort.

Dewey actually did better than thought on the public vote but he got slaughtered in the EC though. He also ran against Truman in 1948 and was thought to be a shoo-in. Truman beat him out. Think of this, Dewey (the great newsman) was defeated by Truman (a shoe salesman).

The 1944 election followed exactly like the 1864 one. FDR and Lincoln were extremely popular. And both were President during war where the Union was winning heavily and more or less, just running the Rebs down. It wasn't long before the Civil War ended, Lincoln won in November 1864 and in April Lee surrendered.

In 1944, both the Japanese and the Germans were fighting from their own soil. The election was in Nov 1944 but German surrendered May 1945. Up until then, Japan was secondary with the defeat of Germany being more important. As soon as the VG Day, a lot of resources and men were transferred to the pacific. Some of the European Troops were involved at Okinawa since it didn't end until June 21st 1945. This was the last major battle and the bloodiest since Okinawa is actually an island in the Japan Chain.

For WWII and the Civil War, it would have been downright suicidal to change horses. Funny how you would allow your Orange Deity to suspend the Constitution as he goes after every that "Were Mean To Him".

LOL! The stupid bitch seems to forget that the Democrats sided with the same Republicans that were trying to oust McCarthy.

Is that why they ousted their democratically elected President via a coup in 2014? Because they are a “democracy”?

Your calling it a 'coup' isn't accurate, though that characterization is music to Putin's ears, as he referred to it as that. He was voted out by the Verkhovna Rada, a representative body elected by the people of Ukraine.

The events that took place in Ukraine in February 2014 are often referred to as the Revolution of Dignity or the Ukrainian Revolution. This was a period of intense civil unrest and protest, which resulted in the ousting of then-President Viktor Yanukovych and a return to the 2004 Constitution of Ukraine. The protests began in response to President Yanukovych’s decision not to sign a political association and free trade agreement with the European Union (EU), instead choosing closer ties to Russia. Yanukovych was Pro-Russian. Poroshenko was an improvement, and better yet, Zelensky who followed.

Did Zelenskyy Say There Would Be No Elections in Ukraine Until War Ends?

Both Poroshenko and Zelensky were elected. Zelensky has a right to declare martial law under the Ukraine constitution (the new constitution of 2004 which was reinstated when Yanukovych was voted out) while the country is under direct attack. The Ukrainian constitution prohibits holding elections during periods of martial law. Your characterization, for failing to factor in this reality, is unfair.

LOL. Yes, forcing a sitting president out of office with force is called a coup.

You can’t change the facts or the definition of the word.

Nice try, Commie.

I'm not arguing the specific politics for each and every different election during times of conflict, that is irrelevant.

In free societies and democracies? The people get to make that choice, that is just the fact, and you don't like being proved wrong.

Funny how you're just sore that yoar beloved Kim Jong Un is ineligible to be nominated to, and elected dictator for life.

That is why your so triggered, innit?
