Music Instrument and production equipment producer Behringer's Facebook bulletin board through Behringer's own message stated recently that 50% of the worlds neon gas required in chip production comes from Ukraine which shut down their production facilities.
But stated in their latest update that all those newly built chip maker facilities are starting to come on line and will solve the shortages by 2023, hopefully by the end of the year.
They have a bunch of very affordable reproductions of classic synth sound mini synth units all ready for production, but are stalled by the chip shortage.

Not chips the Neon gas used in producing chips

The neon is used in the lasers, but really this should be a problem confined to smaller manufacturers. Mass-produced chip making companies tend to have a lot of it stored up, plus China still produces a big chunk of the global supply as a byproduct of its steel making. It will just be more expensive in the near term.

Wow, it’s almost as if we should be producing such critical things ourselves.

If only we had a leader that thought like that....

But no matter what plant goes online soon, they all will be scattering to find the neon gas suppliers/supply used in production of the chips.
It would be crazy to think that there is only one source.

Or, it is quite possible that we could develop/produce something comparable or better.

I don't how much the other 50% providers of neon gas can turn up their production.
When you see techies siphoning neon gas from the old Las Vegas Neon Sign Grave yard museum, then you'll know there's a problem.
😄
