Scott voted for Trump, but losing the export markets of China and Mexico will be devastating to American soybean farmers.

And farmers aren’t the only supporters Trump is screwing with—his random shoot-from-the-hip trade policies are causing anguish across an array of Trump-friendly industries. More than anything, that’s because he’s creating widespread chaos for farmers, manufacturers, the energy industry, and others.

I'm not a fan of tariffs or trade wars, but that's just stupid. Since those countries have higher tariffs, this is hurting their economies more than ours

Brazil and Argentina ALSO have a surplus of that commodity, and if China decides to buy from these South American countries, U.S. farmers may lose China as that "customer,"PERMANENTLY.

China has a Socialist Market Economy, their Central government controls far more than ours does, that is why tariffs work so well for them.

It is startling how many people want our country to emulate that.

My point is.... the idea that US Farmers will lose customers permanently, is ridiculous.

Let me explain.... The whole reason Chinese buyers are not buying from US suppliers, is because the price is too high. The moment that these tariffs are removed, and the price drops back down below world prices, they will buy from US suppliers.

Now if you mean that tariffs will stay in place permanently, then yes we'll lose customers permanently.

If the oil change shop had a 50% tax levied on it, so that a $30 oil change cost $45, and everyone else was still charging $30.... you would change where you got your oil change done. But if that tax was removed, and the price dropped back down to $30, you would start going there again.

And customers will rush back by the way. Why? Because tariffs cause local prices to drop. That oil change place is going to lose customers, because their price with tax is high. But with a loss of customers, they'll cut their prices. They will drop to $20 an oil change, to try and keep some business. When the tax is removed, they'll be the cheapest oil change in town, and people will flock to them.

Same is true in any market.

Soy bean prices have dropped rather quickly since the trade war started heating up.

The moment that this ridiculous trade war ends, and the tariffs are removed, US soy prices will be the lowest in the world, and customers will flock to the US suppliers.
