I'm tired of anemic guitar amps!

It's a tiny photonic version of something I built a long time ago. It basically changes the angle between two faces of a prism, based on voltage control. I'll have to spend an hour with the box cutter when I get home, I'll show you. It's just a chip, looks like an FPGA with a couple of bumps. :)
No hurry Scruff.

I just acquired a shit ton of electronics parts. Your find might inspire some uses.

Check it out! I got all these parts (thousand maybe) in trade for a repair on an EV Evp;ve-50 Subwoofer!

Now I have to get them sorted and sold.

There are Transistors, ICs, resistors, diodes, caps, Molex parts, Tube sockets in here too. Pretty neat!

Almost there. :p I had a rough day, had to go get the driver's license renewed (forgot all about it), and forgot my proof of address ('cause I have a real ID) and had to go all the way back and get it, stand in line twice... y'know... one of those days. I'll get back on it after a rest and a meal.

You could build some pedals!

They have enclosures on sale at amplifiedparts.com

I have an idea for one.

Have you ever of a tube called a "Nuvistor?"

From what I've read, it was a ceramic tube that was used in some models of Neumann Microphones.

Some Neumann's costs more than my house.

They are tiny and might be awesome in an effects pedal!

It's probably been tried already, but who knows?

They look like they would be a fun component to design something around.

They are supposedly rugged too.

Yes. I used to have one of those Neumanns. Sold it to pay for my house. :p

Hi guys, please forgive me, I'm having an episode. In the hospital waiting for the doctors to tell me if my friend is ok. She passed out, fell, hit her head, they're doing MRI right now. We'll resume when I get back.

Hi ladies and germs, I'm back.

Oy. Life is too short.

Tell ya what - you should get yourself a little app called Termux from the Google Play store, and put it on your cell phone. (It's free).

Without that, I would have been watching videos for the last ten days. With it, I could do Python development while cooling my heels in the waiting room.

Sigh. Well this is the science forum, so here's some science.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is a retina. The little red dots are the neurons. The yellow and green lines are layers of cells.

We can export this to any popular graphics tool, make changes, and import it back in. For example, here's what it looks like in Blender:

From this we can create an FPGA, or we can program the structure into any of the neuromorphic chips like Intel's Loihi.

I'm too depressed to clean up my house right now. I'll get to it though. Photonic images forthcoming.
