Back in his first term a hard core democrat and Sanders supporter named James Hodgkinson bought a surplus rifle, drove to D.C. and camped out in his van. He may or not have met with senator Sanders before he opened fire on a group of republican congressmen practicing for a baseball game wounding congressman Scalise. He was shot and killed by two Capital Police officers and the matter was quickly forgotten until a guy named Stephen Paddock opened fire from a Vegas hotel room and killed about 55 people attending a country concert that the media dubbed a Trump rally.
