The U.S. economy crashed in historic fashion this year — shrinking at a nearly 33 percent annualized pace in the second quarter — as the coronavirus pandemic ravaged businesses and sent joblessness soaring. The question now for President Donald Trump, trailing in the polls and facing a daunting reelection effort, is just how much conditions can snap back in the months leading up to Election Day

Meanwhile Moscow Mitch seems quite happy to consign Trump to the scrap yard with no stimulus deal at all, if that's what it takes to not give the dems their red line of aid to states. The "funny" thing though is that by taking this Stand on Principles, Moscow Mitch is willing to give up his Red Line in legislation preventing business and govt from being sued over the virus, and aid to get schools fully open. Perhaps his "red line" is not so much about real fears and principles.

Just out of curiosity, if McConnel is willing to throw Putin's supposed puppet president under the bus just so he can make democrats suffer, how is he Moscow Mitch and not just Republican Mitch? I'm not a McConnel fan, just trying to follow your logic.

Looks like all the democrat mayors and governors are having their desired effect with all the lock downs.

They're happy, and so is the OP, because they think we'll all blame Trump.

Well, nope, no we won't, because unfortunately for the democrats, we KNOW who is responsible for the dismal economic news, and it's not the president. He had the nation on FIRE economically, until the virus came along and the democrats saw the perfect excuse to tank the economy.

People aren't stupid. They know damn well who locked them down, and it's all on the DEMOCRATS, period, end of story.

Really? If Trump had cured Covid-19, you would have claimed he was to slow in doing it...

The republicans are making hoover's mistake.

He also chose austerity. We all know how that turned out.

The democrats mistake is thinking the rest of the nation outside their propaganda bubble thinks and believes as they do.

We don't.

You people are fucked in Nov.

EXACTLY!!! The MSM thinks that "the View" and their "news" (propaganda) networks will carry the day.
However, just like in 2016 voters will reject the crazy agenda of Biden and the socialists.
The urban plantations will not be as solidly democrat either. Trump earned more black and minority votes than the democrats did.

Conditions in the US are no worse than other democratic countries

even Pravda aka NPR says so

Germany's unemployment is less that 8%, and while the gnp fell 10% in the 2nd qtr (compared to over 30% in the US btw) they predict a better 3rd qtr. But thanks for playing

I don't think it's austerity so much as Trump's absurd and murderous attempt to downplay the virus and refusal to get testing in place so the econ could reopen, with workers getting regular tests with timely reports of the presence of infections. The reason the US econ is going down the tubes is we failed at reopening. We never got the virus under control, which other developed democracies did because of better national leadership.

Bill Gates is saying our testing is so bad it's useless. And we are not going to see reductions in infection rates until one of three things occurs: we proceed with up to 1000 deaths daily until 70% of us have had the thing; we get a vaccine and 70% of us are inoculated; or we shut down again. Everyone of us is going to have our lives significantly changed for the worse in the next year and a half.

He wasn’t aware people died from influenza. It’s little wonder the response to C19 has been so poor.

Trump shut the borders after it was clear China and World Health Organization delayed and withheld information. How much time did we lose in order to respond? He called it a “hoax”.... how solid was the information he was provided and when was he provided the information? Finally, HOW and WHAT could the Democrats done differently under the exact circumstances? Would the Democrats have shut the border as quickly as Trump or would they have delayed it pandering to their illegal immigrant base?

The problem with PROGS is math. Here are the leading mortality rates in the world. Take note of Europe on top. The USA is 76th:

The republicans are making hoover's mistake.

He also chose austerity. We all know how that turned out.
The Federal Reserve caused the Great Depression. Not Hoover. He got the blame and then we got the bumbling globalist FDR. A celebrated man who over saw near 15 years of misery and death.

If Trump loses the election, it will ironically be because he screwed up the Corvid response

^^^ another blithering idiot on the left parroting the left's latest scheme to defeat Trump, SPIN and REPEAT 10,000 times. Apparently Trump has the left crushed like a bug on all the important issues so they are desperately pinning their hopes on this talking point.

All you voters, forget about the Dem jobs killing tax increases and regulations, forget about the Dems depraved support for rioters who loot and burn, forget about the Dems support for illegals who take your jobs and keep wages low...instead...focus solely on Covid 19.
