The government knew that when Bin Laden's people said "wedding" that it was going to be an assassination attempt, so they changed the route of Clinton's motorcade and found a large stash of bombs under the bridge...

Well they didn't let it be known they knew what "wedding" meant, because as long as Bin Laden didn't know THEY knew... he would keep using it. And that's just it... that's why most foiled attacks are never made public.
