War is hell. Israel hasn't been perfect but their general premise has been to decrease harm from most reports I've heard. The fog of war makes the facts difficult to know with certainty where the truth lies but Israel acknowledging early on any errors IDF made did go a long way to credibility, whereas Hamas, who started this war, and their supporters, rarely if ever admit fault. I hope this war ends soon though and the hostages returned. It's been far too long and no one truly wins in war.

In the twenty years since the IDF pulled out of Gaza, the Gaza terrorists have integrated their military infrastructure with the civilian infrastructure by building an estimated 51 miles of tunnels under the cities with exits to civilian buildings, making civilian buildings extensions of the tunnel system and therefore legitimate military targets.

There can't be any blanket bombing or carpet bombing because Israel doesn't own any bombers, just multirole fighters, and lawyers who certify an attack is in compliance with International Humanitarian Law, not generals, have the last word on launching any attack.

All hits are precision hits, but if a building is demolished from the air, nearby buildings are likely to sustain damage. All attacks are preceded by warnings to civilians to evacuate the area to be attacked, as prescribed by International Humanitarian Law, but the Palestinians have chosen to fight this war by making civilian infrastructure extensions of their military infrastructure, so widespread damage to what appears to be civilian infrastructure is unavoidable no matter how closely International Humanitarian Law is followed.
