There are thugs in all nations, some acting under the guise of authority. The good news is that people from across the globe, with the means now to identify specific players by name, are starting to look at individuals cases of abuse on both sides with better scrutiny.

We have subsets of people on both sides who can only see crimes "against" their own side but do not consider crimes from their own side, or often justify any action by previous actions. First clue of somebody being in the dark (admittedly I've been there and not just with politics) thinks "only my group is always in the right".
