• As a matter of course while on routine patrol.
• Summoned to a disturbance in progress.
• Dispatch to a given location based on information derived from criminal informants or other Intelligence Information Reports and Sources.
• Prepositioning based on unfolding events or developing situation.
• Lured by Hostiles to a specific location for the express purpose of creating an event.

The police respond to grassroots and street level violence that are often choreographed by the Arab Palestinian Leadership → or inspired or encouraged by their political or religious rhetoric.

Israeli Police Officers would like nothing more than a nice quiet day (NQDs). But NQDs are not conducive to keeping the media focused on the issue. So, it is in the best interest of the Arab Palestinian Leadership to keep the street level tension high; as high as possible.

In most case, and pictures, the Israeli Border Police are mistaken for IDF, but are actually attempting to protect the interests of both the Israeli and the Arab Palestinian; performing the equivalent of the duties required under Article 43 Hague Regulation. The Israeli Border Police (formerly the Frontier Corps) is the Gendarmerie of the Greater Israel Police. The Border Police are construed to be performing police duties with jurisdiction in civil law enforcement. It is a concept known and recognized throughout Europe; with the examples being the Central Security Forces (Egypt), the General Directorate of Gendarmerie (Jordan), and the Internal Security Forces (Lebanon). The Syrian Gendarmerie was demobilized in 1958 was trying to represent itself as part of the United Arab Republic (Egypt + Syria). In the case of Pan-Arabism, there can only be one National Police or Gendarme. Most of all the Middle East is familiar with the concept. They would not confuse the Israeli Border Police for the IDF.
