Respectfully, what is there to "get"? Someone who does such a thing is seriously deranged psychologically. "Reason" and rationality have nothing to do with it. Such individuals, once detected, must be segregated from the rest of humanity. Perhaps they could produce something to support their existence in secure confines. They could choose death. The state killing people is anti-social by definition. Another solution is necessary to spare us delivering such decision making power to the state. In the most extreme, we might turn the other way while a family spent some time with a thoroughly convicted sexual murderer. Even that is going pretty far; yet some argumentation could be made.
