The SAVE ACT doesn't have the votes to pass as is. Thune is trying to figure out something that will allow it to pass. And, there aren't enough votes to end the filibuster either. People like James Woods don't seem to understand how government works. I don't see how leaving the party helps. What are they going to do, vote for a party that doesn't even know the difference between a man and a woman and doesn't want the SAVE ACT to pass?

Good on Woods. He's starting to see the light. Time to take the black pill like so many far right, America First Conservatives have done or are doing. The entire Republicrat Party has betrayed and conned the American people. Kudos to Woods.

We do understand. The RINOS and traitors always show up in close votes not deemed good for the elites who control them. They take turns in cetin votes or are activated in classes of voting. They give just enough to keep their voters from having strokes.

I don't think the solution is to leave the party. What does that accomplish? How do you get what you want by leaving the party?

Unfortunately, I think you are right. It is sad that in this day and age a truly independent has little chance of getting elected or making a difference. The two parties control it all.

Exactly. I'm a right leaning independent. Over the years I have voted a mix of Democrats, Republicans, Independents, third parties, and even write ins at both the national and local levels. No matter who I have ever voted for (and many of them have been democrats or republicans), either a democrat or a republican always wins. They do have the system rigged in their favor.

There was a while there where it looked like the Libertarian party had a sliver of hope but then faded off so badly that in 2024 their nominee's goal was to get 2% of the vote. They wound up getting 1%. Why bother running at all?

For the sake of argument, let's say that a Libertarian gets enough electoral votes to deny the other parties 270 electoral votes. Furthermore, let's say that the Libertarian actually gets more electoral votes than either the democrat or the Republican does but doesn't hit 270 theirself. Who wins? Hint: not the Libertarian.

Let's take it even further. Let's say the Libertarian actually gets 270 electoral votes and wins the presidency. What happens then when they are just one person up against 435 democrats and republicans in the House and 100 democrats and republicans in the Senate? We still have democrats and republicans running the show. They are both playing with a stacked deck of cards and dealing from the bottom.
