Occasional you will get supreme court justices such as Thomas and Ginsburg that will vote predictably and consistently conservative or liberal. However most justices will put aside their personal beliefs and feeling and base their decisions on the case as presented, the constitution. and the law.

Most supreme court cases are not that straight forward. These two case involving Trump financial documents are. The House's case for the Trump documents were not really justified well. It was clearly a fishing expedition. For the court to have ruled in favor of the House, would have created a precedent that would allowed congress to subpoena any personal records of a president for any purpose.

Trump's defense for the New York Court request ing Trump documents was based on the president claim that he is above the law. It was a ridiculous defense. As Justice Robert's stated “In our judicial system, ‘the public has a right to every man’s evidence.’ Since the earliest days of the Republic, ‘every man’ has included the President of the United States,”
