Don't feel bad. I am 86 miles from Memphis, making Tuscon look like a walk in the park. The last week I spent in Memphis, I was driving with an M60 Machine Gun mounted, and walking post with a loaded m-16, loaded .45 in shoulder holster, a bayonet in the scabbard on my LBE, along with ammo pouches of loaded magazines for M16 and .45.

I was Young Jewish teenager when I moved here for college in 90s

So crazy to walk the same paths both memorizing , reminiscies and even poignant

I don't hold anything against, nor for a person just because they are Jewish. A person can believe what they want about the conflict over there, the only two true facts are that:

1. Hamas started the war. Israel has a right to defend and protect itself.
2. Whatever Israel does in response to 10/7, these are the decisions of the Israeli leadership, not some kid going to school at Columbia university.

As to you, just remember that we set most of our own limitations in life to who we are and what we can and will do mostly in our own minds once we convince ourselves of their immutability.
