Out of 775 detainees brought to Gitmo, there are only 55 left. Given Trump stopped all progress in resolving the problem, that's pretty good.

Here's the real problem.

Even though the War on Terror is effectively over, we can't release them like we would enemy combatants in any other war.

We can't bring them up on criminal charges because most of them haven't broken US law. The few who have we can't prosecute because we used torture to extract confessions.
