Plus chickens do not lay eggs when they are molting. Usually in.the fall and winter months , so that could be happening right now. Compounding the shortage even more. Molting takes 6 to 8 weeks and accounts for the normal seasonal price changes. They are extremely expensive right now. I ' m helping the situation. I'm giving them up ( for Lent , haha ).
