I think actual democracy can still be saved.

So much hate. So much negative energy. This is how real disinformation works.
Don’t forget the disinformation the Dems spread about the Russian conspiracy and Hunter’s laptop.

What democracy? There never has been democracy. Just because people vote, doesn't mean it's democratic. A two party system is a joke.

The problem is the electorate itself.

Collectively speaking, they're just plain dumb.

That's the cold, hard truth.

I'm sorry.

For democracy to be meaningful and for it to sufficiently serve the traditional causes of American peace and prosperity, you need an informed electorate.

We don't have that.

The electorate is literally programmed and dumbed down now.

It's like watching American Idol, man.

Winner. Of the whole fucking board.

Is it?

In Germany they vote twice on the same day.

Once with FPTP and once with PR.

In 2017 the CDU/CSU (equivalent of the Republicans) gained 37.27% of the votes with FPTP. They took 77% of the seats.

With PR they got just under 33% of the votes. A drop of more than 4% and gained 34.7% of the seats.

Is that the electorate or the system?

Being dumb isn't necessarily a problem. It's not a problem in Germany where they have 6 different parties. There's proper oversight with those different parties. The US doesn't have that because there are only two viable parties because of the FPTP system.

Yet it is Republicans attacking our democracy

Spreading misinformation about the free press, spreading misinformation on our voting process, attacking our Capitol to stop the certification of a valid election
Democrats want to control the dissemination of information. They only want you to know what they want you to know. Republicans think that we should be free to speak and information should flow freely.

Actually we want to stop the spread of misinformation and hold people accountable for what they say

I tend to agree.
Actually we want to stop the spread of misinformation and hold people accountable for what they say
We are asking a lot. We used to think it was a bare minimum (because we assumed it was the nature of Democracy) but by today's standards - in order to get those things- it requires a total shake-down. We have to pick politicians up by the heels and see what falls out of their pockets. :doubt:

I am smart enough to decide what I believe and what I don't believe. I don't need a fucking politician, especially a dishonest Democrat, to tell me what I should listen to and censor what is available.
