I swear it doesn't rain anymore...

... instead we get deluges. We haven't had a normal "rainy day" this year.
Every freaking time it rains - it freaking downpours!! Like 2 inches in 30 minutes!
What is up with this?
It's been like that for centuries....in the rainforest

Rainfall patterns have become more chaotic and more extreme everywhere. it seems we have what used to be once in 50 or 100 year weather events all the time now. There is more energy in the atmosphere so the weather is bound to be more energetic. Down here on the Gulf it's obvious in how much more quickly hurricanes strengthen. We are not necessarily having more of them but they have become wetter and longer lasting after landfall than ever.

Again I ask ... do you have any statistics to back up your claim? ... or better would be a description of the physics involved ...

There is more energy in the atmosphere so the weather is bound to be more energetic.

This is a common misunderstanding ... weather is a product of POWER, not energy ... and POWER is defined as the MOVEMENT of energy ... under conditions of Arctic Amplification (polar regions are warming twice as fast as equatorial regions), energy is more evenly distributed over the Earth's surface and average power in the atmosphere will go DOWN when temperatures go UP ... more energy, less power, less weather ...

For a very small temperature increase (2ºC by year 2150) ... we'll see very small changes in weather, perhaps unnoticeable in a single human life span ... Houston floods every other year, just now the city is so big this flooding is a problem ... not a change in weather, a change in people ... the 1900 Galveston Hurricane is still considered the worst natural disaster of any kind in the United States, 12,000 dead ... the people changed, not that hurricanes went away ...

More heat in the atmosphere allows the cloud tops to rise higher into the stratosphere collecting more moisture before they start to rain out. Because of this phenomena rain clouds are more likely to form thunderheads which tend to dump their rain quickly rather than drizzle.
I thought you stupid uneducated Moon Bats were bitching that global warming caused drought, unless there is a hurricane and then it causes massive storms.

You stupid uneducated Moon Bats don't know any more about Climate Science than you know about History, Economics, Biology, Ethics or the constitution.

I'm sorry ... there's nothing in the Indianapolis statistics to back up your claim ... rainfall over the past 10 years has been about as average as average can be ... and Indy has the full 150 years of official weather records ... looks like 2010 was the last of a dry spell? ...

You should be getting most of your precipitation as cloud-bursts, or "cumuliform", from March to November ... what little precipitation you get in winter may or may not be "stratiform" and usually comes down as snow ...

Not to say what you're seeing isn't happening, this year may indeed be bringing more rain quicker ... but it doesn't look like a tread, next year could well return to more normal distribution ... this all depends on "how many butterflies are flapping their wings in Australia" ... if you get my drift ...
claim?
I look out the window and it is freaking pouring...and i mean pouring.
And it last for about 20-30 minutes. And that's it.
And I am 90 miles from Indy airport.
And I already said I am not saying it is raining MORE, as in higher totals... just instead of raining an inch in let's say 5 hour period... it is raining an inch in 25 minutes.

You have a 150 years of statistics ... does none of it demonstrate your claim? ... quit explaining yourself, I understood you the first time ... rainfall RATES per unit time are increasing ... I even explained what could cause this to happen ...

So let's dumb this down more ... an increase in temperature won't cause this ... something else has changed, my guess is that you've started to pay attention to the weather ... and are just now noticing rainfall rates ... truth is things have always been this way, and I can say for certainty that an inch of rain in 25 minutes is common in Eastern Iowa in the 1980's ...

Here in Western Oregon, it rains every day all day long ... but only a quarter inch per day usually ... I remember one Pineapple Express that laid down a whole SIX INCHES in just one weekend ... flooded everything ...

Haha...
Get off the coffee.... "you've started to pay attention to the weather"... LOL
No
I just noticed this year, and I am not alone around here, everyone is saying it... that it keeps freaking pouring in short bursts. Which I hate. We have 2 driveways, in the front a circle drive. And in the back off of an alley that is BELOW the alley.
In other words the house on the back side is lower than the alley.
It only pools up when it rains really hard. We have years where it never has a pool back there. Most years it pools once, maybe twice. It is now June 5th and it has pooled 6 freaking times. More than any 2-3 years combined. And it is only early June. Fast, hard rain is when it pools.
That is all. I have no objective, this is not about global warming or anything whatsoever other than me being pissed off that rain keeps coming in burst this year.

[giggle] ... I am NOT stupid ... dammit ...

Warmer means wetter ... droughts will be less often and less intense ... plenty of evidence in the paleoclimatic record ... anyone who says otherwise is either ignorant, or a liar ...

Sorry ... for only a slight rise in temperature (2ºC by Year 2120), we'll only get a slight more drinking water ... Arizona Militia still has to attack California to get her water back ...

... that it keeps freaking pouring in short bursts ...

This is called "cumuliform precipitation" ... and it should be your dominate form of precipitation spring/summer/fall ... your moisture is coming from the Gulf of Mexico along the surface ... aloft you have the dried out bitterly cold Westerly flow ... and it's been this way for the past 150 years, as measured at Indy ... the physics demands short bursts of rainfall ...

Thunderstorms ...

I've lived in the tropics, and it rained harder in Iowa ... far and away ... `gallons per cubic foot` humidity ...

You confused Moon Bats claim that AGW is the cause of drought, floods, hot weather and cold weather.

You have no idea what you are talking about.
