The former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, whose false statements about the 2020 election were part of a lawsuit against the network, was confirmed as the U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., on Saturday.

Ms. Pirro has been serving as interim U.S. attorney, and the Senate voted 50 to 45 on Saturday to formalize her role, with all Democrats present opposed.

President Trump picked Ms. Pirro after he was forced to pull his first choice, the interim U.S. attorney Ed Martin, under pressure from Senate Republicans who were uncomfortable with Mr. Martin’s willingness to investigate Democrats, academic institutions and critics of Elon Musk while seeking to dismantle and delegitimize the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot inquiry.

Ed Martin, the previous lackey in line for the job, had his name pulled from consideration. He was so bad even Repub senators who just confirmed the colossally unfit Emil Bove could not bring themselves to support him.

Trump says he'll replace loyalist Ed Martin as his nominee to be D.C.'s top prosecutor

Now Ed works in the DoJ in a position that doesn't require confirmation.

Trump lauded Martin on Truth Social on Thursday evening, saying that he “has done an AMAZING job as interim U.S. Attorney” and that he would be appointed associate deputy attorney general and pardon attorney and that he would direct a “weaponization working group” at the Justice Department.

A guy who disqualified himself by being so hyper partisan even Repubs couldn't stomach him is now in charge of something called a "weaponization working group." IRONY ALERT!

Ms. Pirro was among the Fox hosts named in a lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems for questioning the validity of ballot tabulations on Fox’s broadcasts. Fox settled the case and was forced to acknowledge that claims about Dominion advanced by Ms. Pirro and others were false.

The president has also proved to be a reliable ally of Ms. Pirro. In 2021, in the final hours of his first term, Mr. Trump pardoned Ms. Pirro’s former husband — and Mr. Trump’s onetime lawyer — Albert J. Pirro Jr., who was convicted of conspiracy and tax evasion charges in 2000.

Only the best people. ;)

Dems in Washington are obviously nervous they don’t have the xiden admin pardons to protect them

Holy shit

Well, we can't be surprised. More showbiz at the most critical points of our nation.

What will he name "Kid Rock" to run?
I wonder if she'll be getting together with Hegseth at cocktail time.

Jeanine Pirro’s drunk episode haunts her after appointment as US Attorney for DC

All far better than partisan hacks like you would ever admit or even see. 😎

Political hack judges who support Lawfare should be removed.
One of the litmus tests for service in the regime is no doubt the belief in the false accusation the 2020 election was rigged. Also in the use of lawfare to keep Dotard out of prison. So following you criteria all members of the regime should be removed.

That makes no sense. 2020 is long over. There is no litmus test.

Lawfare was used to try to put Trump in prison.

Hack "lawfare" judges need to be removed.

Explain lawfare?
Turley explains it:
Acting Supreme Court justice Juan Merchan was handpicked for this case rather than randomly selected. This is only the latest in a litany of Trump cases where Merchan has meted out tough rulings against Trump and his organization. With any other defendant, there would likely be outrage over his selection. Merchan donated to President Biden. Even though the state bar cleared that violation based on the small size of the contribution, it later stressed that no such contributions were appropriate for a judge. We learned later that Merchan has contributed to a group to stop the GOP and Trump. Merchan’s daughter is also a Democratic organizer who has helped raise millions against Trump and the GOP and for the Democrats.
To his credit, CNN legal analyst Elie Honig has previously said that this case was legally dubious, uniquely targeted Trump and could not succeed outside of an anti-Trump district. On the judge, he recently challenged critics on the fairness of assigning a Biden donor who has earmarked donations for “resisting the Republican Party and Donald Trump’s radical right-wing legacy.” He asked “Would folks have been just fine with the judge staying on the case if he had donated a couple bucks to “Re-elect Donald Trump, MAGA forever!”? “Absolutely not.”
What is equally disturbing is the failure of Merchan to protect the rights of the defendant and what even critics admit were distinctly pro-prosecution rulings in the trial. It is not just the appearance of a conflict with Judge Merchan but a record of highly biased decisions. In watching Merchan in the courtroom, I was shocked by his rulings as at times incomprehensible and conflicted.

If lefties want to talk about "servile minions" after their minions in the media lied to Americans about Biden's mental health and continue to lie about Trump let them go ahead and make fools of themselves.

New Details Emerge on Fox Hosts’ Efforts to Bolster Trump in 2020

Jeanine Pirro. Jesse Watters. Maria Bartiromo. They seemed to have different motivations, but the same goal: Help President Trump.

Several of Fox News’s most prominent on-air news personalities made clear their desire to help Mr. Trump shortly before and after the 2020 presidential election, according to a tranche of court documents released on Tuesday in a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox Corporation filed by Smartmatic, a voting technology company.

In one text message, Mr. Watters, who now hosts “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Fox News, said to his colleague Greg Gutfeld: “Think about how incredible our ratings would be if Fox went ALL in on STOP THE STEAL,” a reference to the movement trying to overturn the results of the election.

Ms. Pirro, a former Fox News host who is now the U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., told Ronna McDaniel, then the Republican National Committee chair, in a text in the months before the election: “I work so hard for the President and party.” Ms. Pirro had been pushing for a pardon from Mr. Trump for her ex-husband, Smartmatic argues.

This gives further explanation to why trump picked the puny sock puppet named Jeanine.
