Reporter makes a bunch of money during a 20+ year career.
Reporter than says "I was a really bad dude who profited off of the misery of others".
Reporter makes a mea culpa when it is safe to do so and he has banked many years of earnings.
No consequences or criticism, "you're doing the right thing. It takes a brave man to come forward". Rinse and repeat for issue of the day.

If Canadian covert police did this we'd have two articles a day with their guilty words (never actions when it matters. This is how it works). They should all be forced to pass polygraph exams every five years...

When you do stupid things bad things happen. The media somewhat complained but then Obama was president and there is no way you could condemn him even though it was under Obama we bombed a hospital killing innocent civilians and doctors. Did the media demand answers? Demand people be held accountable? No, it might hurt Obama.
