Military Bases? Off limits as far as I am concerned. That is mandated [Upkeep of the military and they've been cut wat too much anyway]. Parks? Good idea to keep many parts of this nation pristine and see no problem with them. It was an actuall good idea by TR.
Now...if we're talking of Social programs? Where's the scissors? Cut 'em baby. Get people back to work that can.

Which ones? Specifically. Shall we cut Social Security's current beneficiaries? See if grandma can get by on less? Maybe we should cut benefits available to the next generation? How about SSI & Medicaid? What's a few cripples roaming the streets and begging? Doesn't seem to hurt the tourist trade in Mexico....
If military spending is off the table there is no path to a balanced budget with reasonable taxes.

Socialist Security is already insolvent. Has been a favourite slush fund filled with IOU's for decades.

And where is it mandated in the Constitution for all the Socialist programs. That's right...it isn't there. Spare us the Statist horseshit.

1. Foreign Military Bases in non-warzones need closing, ASAP.
2. Social Security and Medicare benefits need cutting, across the board. We could start gently, say a 5% slash...while increasing the retirement age for those not yet taking it.
3. EPA, FDA, and Education can easily be slashed.
4. Scrap the roughly $1 trillion Obamacare Omnibus.
5. Ditto for unspent 'stimulus'
6. Federal funding of states needs slashing. Federal money shouldn't be paying for State public pensions.
7. DARPA and similar defense research projects need scraping. Our military-industrial complex has incredibly high costs for incredibly little benefit, considering how other nations are catching up to us on far smaller budgets.
8. Foreign aid needs cutting. And I mean all of it.
9. And beggars/cripples? The **** does Washington care about beggars? You think the President is Robin Hood?

Alot of the overseas crap can GO. We have domestic problems we need to get a handle upon.
We can start too by ceasing giving money to Countries/Causes of those that hate us...
As to #9? Beggars? Cripples? They're pawns...and that's their worth to worthless politicians. After the politician gets elected? A few boubles and trinquests to keep 'em pacified...otherwise? The Politicians laugh their asses off for people buying into the tripe.

Well, you won't for a while. See, unlike Democrats, the red state folks dont expect automatic life enhancement from their government. Your benefits will look like the following:
- Corporate tax rates will probably go down a bit in your state. Won't affect you personally, but the company you work for maybe.
- Corporations will make a bit more profit, since they pay less in taxes. You may, or may not, see a raise as a result. Probably not in short term.
- Other companies fleeing high tax states, like Cali, NY, NJ, etc, may relocate to your state. See Boeing picking South Carolina over the Seattle area for huge new plant full of high paying jobs.
- As a result, your area will slowly see an increase in available, good paying jobs. These companies need workers ya know.
- Your company, in turn, will see a more competitive market for labor. They'll say "Dang, Company X just moved here, and we have some of our mid-level managers looking to go there. We better pay them a bit more, or give them a bigger office, or something to keep them here.
- Then, you'll start seeing benefits of living in a red state. The government won't swallow your local economy whole, and some companies will slowly start moving their business there as your state taxes slowly go down for them. Jobs will follow.
Of course, anyone's grand plan of living off government handouts will be hurt quite significantly. They'll have to get a job and work for it now.
