LOL I was just thinking about that and no I'll be the first one to admit that I'm NOT smarter than a fifth grader. Not by a long shot.

Those 5th Graders on that show would Crush the OP in any trivia question, math question and overall general knowledge.

OP is laughingat being laughed at and doesn’t even know it.
Help out or Get Out....."teacher"
I gotcha Wifey... But first a quick note to those of you who just typed the formula into your phone and posted the answer... The goal here is to understand why... So no credit unless you show and explain your work!
I did read through several of the responses and some were correct with their answers and using the PEDMAS system. The point of confusion is if you do addition (A) before subtraction (S) as it appears in PEDMAS the answer looks like it would be 5. But there is the element of "Left to Right" that also needs to be applied.
Look at PEDMAS this way...
1. Parenthesis 2. Exponents 3. Division and Multiplication from left to right 4. Addition and Subtraction from left to right
By using the above rules you get:
3x3-3÷3+3
1. 3x3=9
2. 3÷3=1
3. 9-1+3=11
Does that make sense?
Left to right apples to the DM and to the AS in PEDMASAs long as we have some smart ones in here: if you reverse the ADD & SUBTRACT (was 3x3-3÷3+3) :
Change: 3x3+3÷3-3 since ADD SUBTRACT are equal? Do you do the ADD first (left to right or the SUBTRACT first?)
ADD first: answer is 7
SUBTRACT first: answer is 7
guess they are truly equal? But not if you do the OP problem? ugh! Subtract first if in doubt?
E stands for Exponents and are also referred to as powers. Like 2 to the 3rd power... I can't type it but it would look like a 2 with a small 3 next to the 2... Typed like 2^3.... Mathmatically it is multiples of the root number so: 2x2x2=8Yes and you would make an excellent math teacher, but I honestly can't remember what ab exponent is as it's been WAY too long.![]()

3 to the 4th power is (3^4): 3x3x3x3=81
The opposite would be a square root.
Exponent: 8^2 (8 squared, 8 to the power of 2, 8x8) = 64.Yes and you would make an excellent math teacher, but I honestly can't remember what ab exponent is as it's been WAY too long.![]()
Every number in power '0' is equal '1'.Do you know why 6° = 1
Looking forward to this discussion.
What’s -5 in power 0?Every number in power '0' is equal '1'.
It will be '1'.What’s -5 in power 0?
Ahh, that’s a fun one… I’ll give it a shot.Do you know why 6° = 1

I thank you for starting a good conversation. Kudos. And agreed, no need to attack or demeanOkay now you guys are going WAY above my head LOL oh and btw although I have the person that I'm referring to on ignore I'm really meaning anybody when I say this but there's no need to be a jerk/ bully when it comes to this thread.
I'm not good at math, I've already admitted it so so what? Who gives a flying flip about it? And what do you gain by teasing me like that besides people thinking that you must be a sad and lonely person with absolutely no life of your own or self esteem to have to pick on me to make yourself feel better about yourself. Like seriously, get a life!!![]()
