Prison is not like the movies. Where I worked they they lived in 50 man dormitories and get to go outside 3 times a day.Not hardly.Name a Forum where one has to sit long hours in a small
cement cubicle and then gets maybe a little outside breathing time.
My advice is simple.By all means watch - Birdman of Alcatraz - { 1962 }
based on the true life of Robert Stroud.
Stroud did get in trouble for fighting in Prison. Then was
put in solitary cell confinement.
And his solitary confinement overlord { Prison guard } eventually
became a confidant..And Robert Stroud was Not a man
of words or kidding around.
I worked both dorms and cells over my years in VDOC and thinking back on it I don't think I had a preference.Prison is not like the movies. Where I worked they they lived in 50 man dormitories and get to go outside 3 times a day.
Must be a 80s or early 90s model with those Uncle Mikes boot grips.....They were OEM on J-Frames back then.
They are a excellent design for a boot grip but I prefer a standard grip with a Tyler T-Grip on J-frames.
The UM grips are no longer produced and bring $50- $60 on Ebay. UM made a longer combat grip of the same design for K-frames as well as a boot grip....Sadly they never made a N-frame grip.
UM grip on my Model 19 stubby.....Top Right.
First you have to determine the year the weapon was made (by serial number) and what the OEM grips were during the year of production. If memory serves they came with both styles with plastic being dominate.Speaking of grips, I've got my Dad's old Colt .380 Government Model. He had wooden grips made for it. I have no idea what happened to the originals, which I believe were rubber.
I'd love to get the originals, if you know of any sources...

The folks over on the colt forum can help.....The grip (wood or rubber) are not rare and will likely be available on eBay.

The quick and dirty way would be to look-up the serial, find the year, then do image search for that particular year/weapon and go with the preponderance of the style you see.
Thanks for the assist!
According to the serial number, it's a 1984.
Thanks again!
