I am aware of there being an old saying that goes like this, "Life is not fair, but you can be." My question is this: If death is what is fair instead, does that mean that we are not under any obligation to be fair in return?

God bless you always!!!

Holly the love of money is the root of all evil but heaven has many mansions and the streets are paved in gold

Death is highly sought after, judging by the many who seem to be seeking it with great enthusiasm.

You seem to be hinting that established rules and/or laws don't apply in America anymore

You may have conveyed a different impression had you put this in the religion section.

Why do you think that life is no longer fair?

Death came into this world through adam's sin. we were supposed to be i think Eternal. But sin ruins that. Still...i don't think God sees death the way we see it. His ways and thoughts are way above ours.

I had never heard this quote/saying, so I looked it up.

Turns out, it came from Tom Selleck. Reddit says, "It’s from a line he spoke in the TV series “Blue Bloods “ as character Frank Reagan."

Most of us had only ever heard the term, "Life isn't fair," which of course, is obvious, that is axiomatic.

And, yes, of course, death is fair, as it comes to us all.

Of course, no one is under any "obligation," per se, to be a decent human being, the tenets of most religions, and indeed, evolutionary biologists believe that helping each other, and cooperation, is part of our DNA. In fact, they believe it is part of all mammalian DNA, it is part of a mammal's evolutionary strategy. You can see all mammals, have an innate, almost compulsion, to love, and to help each other.

You see this, throughout the animal kingdom.

So? Basically, what I am trying to say, don't be good to others for their sake, do it for your own. It is in your DNA, it is good for your soul and your mental health, it will bring you peace and happiness. And that? You can take to the bank. It is even based on science!

This isn't about whether or not I think that life is no longer fair. I am only asking that if we have to be fair when life isn't, does that mean that we do not have to be fair should death be what is fair instead compared to life?

God bless you always!!!

P.S. One reason why I wonder this is because of how many funerals it is that I have been to already in my life. I don't mean to come from an insensitive standpoint in any way, but why go to such a gathering for a person when it is pretty obvious that they will not be at the gathering that may take place when it is your own time to go?

You make no sense.
God bless you always!!!
And neither does that!

We don't attend funerals or celebrations of life for the benefit of the dead.

Are you so selfish and callous that you don't understand the reason?

Those who engage in dangerous behaviors and lifestyles.
Thank you for the answer...i rarely get that. What dangerous behaviors and lifestyles are you referring? I recognize some behaviors, sexual in nature, that lead to death. Are we on the same page?

P.S. Thank you for letting me know how far your brain train doesn't travel.

Drugs, alcohol, crime, inattention to health, dangerous adventure/sporting activities, reckless driving, etc. A look at the causes of deaths is revealing.
