I had not seen this before.

I'm hoping the link works even if you don't subscribe to the NYT. It's a panoramic video of the grotesquely, golden adorned Oval Office. If it doesn't this one should.

Yet another part of the WH and it's history trump has no respect for, along with the East Wing.

I've seen still pictures of the room but you can't fully appreciate the manner in which Don has tried to make it in to the Palace at Versailles until you've seen the video.

I see it as a lurid, physical manifestation of there being no check on his impulse to use the power bestowed on him to achieve his own ends. As is the case with the vindictive prosecutions of Comey and James, illegally sending troops in to US cities under false pretenses, denying due process to deportees, and so on.

The thing that gave trump the margin of victory over Harris was voter frustration with inflation. On top of getting none of the promised relief they got more than they bargained for. And not in a good way.

So now a president can't make his office look like he wants it to?

On the plus side, liberals are reduced to this petty nonsense because Trump's actions and agenda are beyond reproach. This sort of silliness is all they have left. Pathetic.

You people are seriously fucked up.

Gold paint can be replaced. No big deal.

As embarrassingly gaudy and tacky as it is for many of us, I think there are many Americans who think it's really cool.

He makes them "feel" rich and strong. I'm not sure how, but he does. They're living their lives vicariously through him. Even as he extracts great wealth from them for himself, his kids and his friends. Right out in the open.

A group psychology study for the ages, that's for sure.
For me that quietly stated very American look of the oval office is gone,
Guess every president gets to put in a look that represents their personal values.

Yep, that's the way it's always worked.
Trump's taste doesn't jive with mine but he's earned the right to do as he wishes.

Yes He Can,
Why IS redecorating and tearing down buildings a priority now?
early in his first year,? IF you consider ALL the problems
WE are having now?
You mean all the problems that are being addressed/solved at the same time?

So, you can't address US and world problems and redecorate at the same time? Trump has been very busy fixing not only US problems but world problems. Don't you watch the news?

True. He seems to be doing more behind the scenes than what he does publicly.
