It's impossible to get around the fact that trump, as I wrote yesterday, is not of sound mind. Using that as a frame of reference makes it easier to explain everything that's happened during trump 2.0.
He is psychologically compromised and intellectually stunted. Combined with his ability to surround himself with weak, pliable advisers, the result is the country being set on a course for destruction.
At this point, I really don't know what would be worse: If Trump DOESN'T capitulate, or if he DOES capitulate.Pretty much right on the money.
He’s old
He’s tired
He’s vindictive
He’s anti intellectual
He’s lazy
He’s arrogant
He’s entitled
And this is what we get
These critical trade relationships are now wrecked. The world is already looking for stability outside of America, and while it can't do it overnight, they're done with us in the long term. So his only motivation is domestic pressure. Who knows if he feels that.
And if he capitulates, we simply move from untrustworthy predator nation to global laughingstock. America would be a buffoon in the image of its President.
So in a way, these tactics have to somehow work. Or, perhaps more likely, he'll get a few concessions, call it The Greatest Victory in the History of Historical Histories, and his flock will celebrate and spike the football because they don't know the fuckin' difference.
