Senate Republican Acknowledges That This Might All Be Very Illegal

While she has done little more than state facts, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) is emerging as the only Republican member of Congress currently willing to call out the fact that Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s lawless DOGE crusade is stripping Republicans in the House and Senate of one of the main powers they possess as elected officials: to create agencies and fund the federal government.

Earlier this month, as TPM pressed Senate Republicans on Capitol Hill about Musk’s rampage — and got little but shrugs in response — Collins came forward to say she was “concerned” about the amount of power Trump had given the unelected billionaire. She warned then that many of DOGE’s actions — freezing congressionally allocated funds, firing government workers, probing sensitive taxpayer data — was “going to end up in court.”

Since then, no other Republicans have taken their rhetoric any further. A handful of Senate Republicans have subtly broken with the Trump administration to publicly discuss how important certain funds that have been frozen are to their constituents — like the handful who have been limply, publicly negotiating with the Trump administration to get back funding for crucial medical research in their state.

Collins doubled down during an interview with Politico Wednesday, going as far as suggesting that the Trump administration might be breaking the law with its recent DOGE actions.

I knew it would take something like this. That is, I knew there would come a time when congressional Repubs started doing the calculus on whether their quiescent silence regarding the trump admin's daily outrages would cause concern for their own electability. Sorry Sue, you lost any pretense to respect long ago.

Not that they are standing on principle, or the many national security concerns, or objecting to trump saying he is the arbiter of whether he has broken the law. No, they just don't want any fallout to jeopardize their re-election. Getting rid of these spineless cowards would be a boon for the nation were it not for the certainty their replacements would be worse. As hard to imagine as that is.

Susan Collins has been a democrat infiltrator to the republican party since her first election to office in bright blue ME.

America is going to reward Trump accordingly.

Just wait until the truth hits them in the pocket.

More blathering garbage from Troll Bot Burger .

He would be better employed listening to Trumpfy talk right this minute from Miami which I have been doing from the beginning. .
He does need a manager to make him digress less and move say 20% faster .
But he makes Biden look the incompetent clown he really was . And a Traitor .

Notably Senator Susan Collins (ME -R) is a Republican in name only and often sides with Democrats. She is a true RINO...

Although not unexpectedly ... Senator Collins whips out the big guns ... And spells it all out to the eager Press ...
In attempts to cement her bid for Former Senator Romney's spot ... At the helm of the Republican side of the Establishment.

All following in the hallowed footsteps ... Of the once greatly admired Maverick the Democrats so adored.
The noble veteran, but horrible Senator from the State of Arizona ... The late John McCain.

Such bold moves by Senator Collins ... And the possible box checking involved ...
May help her gather enough Establishment support ... And follow the two other former Senators mentioned ...
In gaining a nomination as a Presidential Candidate in an upcoming election ...
Most likely used as a sacrifice to the Democrat candidate.

It's not illegal...think of musk as the efficiency czar, tasked with cleaning up the books. You don't think czars are illegal, do you?
