Zone1 I doubt that there are any Catholics who would say: I am not a Christian!

I don't get the question.

My Christian went nuts on me when he said Catholics worship saints.

I told him (unknown to him)...I am a lifelong Catholic and I never heard that one before.

This gun nut was pop'n veins and I thought I was going to have to call the police for his own good.

No. Luckily I dont know many Catholics 😜

One can sometimes hear this reproach. It is not a fact.

Have you ever met some of those?
I haven.t.
But, there are many Christians who would say Catholics are not Christians. What does it mean to be Christian? Are Westborough Baptist Church members Christian? They believe in Christ.

Yes, I met one in a retirement home when a few people from a Protestant church invited me to play music with them for a church service. A couple of the resident ladies were having a conversation before the service began and one actually blurted out..."I'm not a Christian, I'm a Catholic" and got up and walked out. Weird.

Key phrase -- "In a retirement home". When I have a minute, I'll tell you some of the unhinged things I heard my late husband say when he was in such a facility.

With Christian she probably meant Protestant Christian ….

can you tell us now? 😊👍

Just goofy stuff that proved that he was not firmly in touch with reality.

It had been years since we lived in Seattle and regularly attended the opera, but in his mind, we were at the home of his girlfriend of several decades before, waiting for the taxi that would take us to the opera.

Or he would tell me about the conversation he had just had with his brother who was about 10 years deceased.

Just standard adventures of life with a spouse with dementia.

I remember sitting in the living room, in Seattle, with his mother who was in Ogden, Utah, worrying about whether the train we were on would get us to Seattle in time.

Learning to have conversations with someone who was in a different time and space was an interesting challenge.

I can imagine.👍
So it wasnothing about Catholics not being Christians. 😎

I remember a Catholic who said: "when you enter a church you can see at once whether it is Christian or Catholic."

it is probably due to the misuse of the term Christian to mean American Protestant only.
