I didn't realize it until after the Charlie Kirk Memorial.

That was quite an amazing memorial for Charlie Kirk. All of the speakers were great, but wow; the strength and composure of Erika Kirk is amazing.

While I have not prayed for it for several months, one of the prayers I have prayed many times is for the Lord to reach out to those on the opposite side who are reachable and for them to accept Jesus in their hearts and their lives, and to see the errors of their ways and change their lives. In that prayer I have also stated that I realize some people are just unreachable, and to focus on those who are reachable, because there are far more of them than the unreachable.

While I was always familiar with Charlie Kirk and heard about some of the things he did, I like with many other things that I have not devoted as much time to only knew the works at the top of surface, I did not see the depth or power of his work. After the unfortunate loss of Charlie Kirk as a physical being on this planet (his spirit will never die), I got to see much closer the amazing things he accomplished, how his fearlessness and knowing things needed a change and he did it. Charlie answered my prayers of reaching to those that I have mentioned and winning them over, and that prayer is still being answered, it will continue to be answered. With now over 62,000 requests for new Turning Point chapters, it is just beginning, and I will continue to pray that prayer I mentioned more often.

As I close this post, I am not a perfect person, I make mistakes and have the humility to realize that while I with the help of Jesus have made many improvements in my life, and that I realize I have a long road ahead of me in continual improvement. Through the help of Jesus I will continue the improvements, but still keep the humility to realize that the best I can do is keep improving. I pray the same for all of you. God Bless.

For her to forgive his killer just over a week after he was murdered is about as Christian a sentiment as one could express.

If all Christians acted in this way there would be more Christians I'm sure. It's about actions not just talk, and she acted in a way her faith dictates.

I'd have to say it was the most touching speech by a widow I've ever heard.

Must not have been easy for her to say it, but saying she forgives the killer does two things...

1. It gives the killer (and others who think like him) an opportunity to hear the gospel message and repent.

2. Forgiveness is a necessary part of the healing process. Unforgiveness only harms the person holding it.

Forgiveness is one of the hardest things for anybody to do.

We want justice (when we are wronged).
We want mercy (when we wrong somebody).

Matthew 6:14-15
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Just before she forgave that young man, she noted that after Charlie was killed there were no riots, there was no violence.
The contrast she drew with the godless and lawless was obvious.
Democrats may be losing church goers.
I believe that with so many heartless, inappropriate comments floating around about Kirk, it will cause democrats to lose elections bigtime and as a result - the defecation then hits the rotating oscillator.

I tend to be a bit more hard-nosed when it comes to the whole forgiveness thing.

I guess being agnostic let's me look past the forgiveness part and concentrate more on the justice end of things.
And I hardly doubt she really "forgives" him although she said the "right" thing in her speech. Just a week ago she was vowing a fight like the left had never seen before, with a tone of eery vengeance. She is probably partly speaking for the church that she and her husband belonged to, and make no mistake , it is fully intended as a slap in the face of the left, saying "WE ARE BETTER THAN YOU." If she ever gets to see him pumped full of lead by a firing squad, she may have some private satisfaction that her church may never be aware of. If so, GOOD for her. 😏

You are right. Some seem to just be unreachable. I can't imagine the emptiness, vacuum of mind and soul, and pure possession of hate and malice that has to exist for people here at USMB to swarm into memorial threads and trash Charlie Kirk, and all who loved, admired, respected him including those of us who admired and appreciated him. To not allow us to grieve, to have closure without making it a food fight is so so over the top I don't know how to fully describe that except as some have charactertized it as 'demonic.'

They would probably show up at a friend or family funeral not to support the grieving, but to trash the deceased and disrupt the proceedings. They are not nice people and what they do is evil.

I am praying for God to give me the courage and compassion to pray for them and forgive them. In all honesty, I am not yet to that point. But Erika and you Locke11_21 set an example Christians are to emulate. I only hope I will be able to do as she and you does.

Forgiveness is as natural to the human condition as us breathing underwater. I don't think forgiveness is easy for anybody to do, agnostic or otherwise.

Yet, somehow, someway, unforgiveness helps us in the long term.

For example, I can be angry and unforgiving all my life for never meeting my father, but what good would it do me? It's a situation I have no control over. The only thing I can control is how I deal with situations.

It's all about how I deal with the cards I'm dealt.

Unforgiveness is like swallowing poison and hoping somebody else dies. It just doesn't work in our spirit like we think it ought to.

As things would have it the weekend before he was shot our pastors sermon was about forgiveness.

Forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting or letting them off the hook of their deserved punishment. Forgiveness simply puts the burden of dealing with that person in Gods hands. If that means this guy gets the death penalty then so be it. What she has done is removed herself from that burden.

Well, that's not what forgiveness means to me as I am not religious.

And I maintain that she would probably be quietly gleeful to see him be punished. I don't believe that is forgiveness, although some may call it that in order to go along with the formalities of their faith.

That’s what it actually is in a Christian sense. Let me see if I can explain.

Let’s say I invite you over for a BBQ. You get ungodly drunk, kick my dog, start a fight and puke on my porch so we call the cops and have you arrested.

I can forgive you. But that doesn’t mean you aren’t going to be charged and prosecuted for fighting, animal cruelty or anything else. And I will testify honestly about what you did at the trial.

My forgiveness also does not include forgetting. So you will not be forgiven and invited back for another BBQ.

Let me add one more part. My forgiveness simply means I’ve let the retaliation for your acts go. I will not be persuing any vengeance toward you.

Meh, I guess I'm just wired different.

Once i see someone not worthy of my forgiveness then they are a non-person to me and I give them little to no further thought unless they escape justice somehow.

Too bad Trump followed her plea for unity by saying he disagreed with her then went on a rampage spewing his usual hate, lies, misogony, demands for revenge & his usual unhinged blather.

He should look in the mirror because judging by the shit he spewed today alone, shows he partly responsible for the division in this country.

Erika Kirk should think twice about associating woth someone like Trump along with his gutter talk.
