The missed analogies of those wanting to take in refugees is amusing.

How about we do what they did in the big government 1900's and let the family of 4 come over and say "Here is this worthless property in a little bit of a dangerous area. Its yours if you maintain it for a decade." In 1865 the land we were giving away the natives probably thought was theirs but we used the power of the U.S. Army and treaties with folks on the other side of the planet to secure. In 2018 I'd give away a perfectly fine home in one of our hollow cities or older subdivisions. We have plenty of $10,000 and $20,000 homes here no one wants. I will do my part and pay taxes to make sure they get some food stamps and their kids get an education.

And I'm not going crazy either and lifting all caps on immigration. Let's just double the amount of immigrants we let in next year. After all, if we can let in the elderly parents of a 3rd string trophy wife, we can let in some folks willing to work. Maybe we'll fix a property value problem.
