Suppose humans start cloning humans, and you run into a clone who comes up to you says Hi. What would you do?

Of course, I wouldn't have any trouble having casual conversation, but I would not view them the same as a naturally-birthed human being. I believe we have souls, and if I knew the "person" I was talking to was cloned, I wouldn't fully trust they had a soul, and perhaps wouldn't be as guided and controlled by inner intrinsic morality like knowing murder, theft, rape etc. are bad to do, and feeling guilt for doing them even if the laws allow it. It would certainly have a religious aspect for me, and Catholic teachings certainly oppose cloning.

It would certainly be an interesting issue to navigate. I assume it wouldn't be much of a big deal to other ideologies or hard atheists.

Either shoot it dead or send it to a blue city to protest Joe Biden.

You can't kill a clone. They are not real people. It is called 'Retirement.'

Have you seen Orphan Black on Netflix? :)

Meh, not really.

A clone is just an identical twin. Identical Twins are technically clones. Are you saying that half of identical twins lack a "soul"? (That probably would explain my sister-in-law, but never mind.)

The problem with cloning a human being, besides the issues of cell age (That a 1-year-old clone will have the cellular age of its donor), is that there's no practical reason for doing so.

You can clone Michael Jordan, but still end up with a mediocre basketball player. So what would be the point of cloning him?

Of course, there's no scientific evidence that a soul exists, but let's say for a moment that one does.

Let's say, furthermore, that someone cloned Hitler! (Because, hey, if you are going to start a specious moral argument about cloning, might as well go for the really big one.)

I'm pretty sure all those Hitler Clones couldn't possibly turn out as bad as the original model. It wouldn't have grown up in an anti-Semitic environment or been dehumanized by serving in a World War.

Some of them might even grow up to be pretty nice guys. But how can that be if they didn't have souls, but the original did, and look what he did!!!
