Tariffs are a blunt tool. How will they actually work ? I can only see prices rising and shortages on US shelves.

The targets he names are easily surmountable. Food and Cars. Well I see many cars from US companies. Ford,Cheverolet, General Motors and even Tesla.

Food is easily rectified by producing food prepared to European standards Not using Frankenstein technology. You have to adapt to the market you are selling to.

So what is likely to happen in the US and to its trade ?

See my posts on this subject. I could write a dissertation on it.

I think Canada is fine as we have similar wages and a trade agreement.

If countries want to avoid tariffs, start making trade agreements like they used to in the good old days.

If I am the U.S I include a Human Rights clause to allow penalties if they waiver from these values. THAT is the American Way!

Thanks but im not going to dig up your old posts.
To help you I will give an example.
10% on a bottle of single malt will add up to 10 dollars to the price. People will trade down and or the distillers will stop shipping.
Either way the outcomes are poor. Either the price goes up or the public get less choice.
It isnt a product you can replicate or import from anywhere else. Cognac is another and Parma ham as well.
He is proposing 60% on chinese goods. I can see the attraction but this would lead to huge shortages and much higher prices for consumers who are forced to buy expensive american goods.

The purpose of the tariffs is to make US manufactures more price competitive with imports in order to save or create US manufacturing jobs. Apparently the Democrats don't think saving US jobs is a worthwhile endeavor.

I can't keep educating people on here I'm sorry. So I will keep it simple because you need to invest some effort.

Go to google, type in "U.K import tariffs full list" or something to this effect.

Check out the numbers. Compare that to how little the U.S charges you in tariffs.

You're welcome

I understand that is the purpose but I just dont get how it works. The EU will not import farm produce that doesnt meet its standards.
EU farmers stick to EU rules and they cant be undercut by trump threats.
It will just end up being cancelled out by EU tariffs.

There have been more food shortages in the UK than the US. If you believe the FDA that the COVID vaccine is safe, why don't you believe them when they say a drop of red food-grade dye in cherries is safe?

Nothing. More than 170 countries have a VAT tax. Same difference.

LMAO the UK and Euro trash should think twice before running their mouths about tariffs given how much they price gouge their people with taxes and fees of all kinds. Talk to the hand fool :talk2hand:

The Trump tarrifs, are a bargaining chip, which will be used to make a fairer playing field.

How will Trump's tariffs work? In the same way as Bidens.

What was the inflation rate under Trump when he put tariffs on China his last term, what shortages did we have when Trump put tariffs his last term?

If American products were cheaper it would benefit Americans to by American and limit China’s influence on our markets and less reliance from a nation with poor environmental, labor and business practices.

Obviously not .
We do not expect Sheeple like you to undersrtand .

That is the fun side of exploiting low IQ Gullibles like yourself

Ask the porn rag Guardian .
This is a problem, he is asking to understand a issue and you dump on him, he is asking for information, you may not agree with him, I rarely do but dialogue is needed to understand his perspective as well as he can understand yours. We all have differing opinions, we need to find common ground by open dialogue.

If you give Trump $5mm dollars you won't get a tariff.
