The right of workers to "organize" is well laid out in the National Labor Relations Act. The NLRB can be slanted right or left, but it doesn't really make much difference.

We Conservatives are resentful of unions in non-competitive environments, such as public sector employment, and to a lesser extent unions in public utilities, public services (e.g., mass transit, the post office), and monopolistic situations like Boeing.

But the President can't do much to impact these unions. It will be interesting to see if he has any success in bringing sanity to Federal employment, where generations of Democrat Administrations have made Federal employment a fertile ground for various forms of featherbedding.

So most uneducated blue collar workers didn't appreciate what unions do for people like them. Even if they aren't in a union. Unions bring wages up. So anyways, long story short is that Republicans told told people who lost those good paying jobs not to worry. Just go to Walmart and Dollar Stores now that you don't make as much money.

Unions are victims of their own successes because virtually everything they've fought for has been put into law. They are now reduced to squabbling about more money without demonstrating that they provide higher value for that higher pay. That is why most workers don't really see the need to belong to a union anymore and take their heavy hand over their work life.

We need a sizeable amount of retirement eligible workers to retire ASAP. Combine that with deportation and employers will be raising their wages nicely just to get an employee to think about applying. Wage increases are what drives an economy. Workers have the right to associate. We will see an uptick in private workers unionized.
