'Today I listened to most of Forum on KQED FM, the Bay Area's NPR station:

"Harvard neuroscientist and philosopher Joshua Greene has brought a new dimension to the study of morality by scanning the brains of people as they struggle with philosophical dilemmas. Greene argues that humans are hardwired with a "tribal" mentality, an "us-versus-them" perspective that leads to clashes over political and social issues like abortion, gay marriage and gun rights. In his book "Moral Tribes," Greene explores how we make moral decisions, whether we put individual rights above the common good, and how this explains many of the social debates between different groups and countries."

Well worth everyone's time.

Any serious discussion of morality eventually leads to a discussion of WHOSE set of ethics are used.

For example I believe we have a different set of values than White folks, for example.

Who decides what is "moral" and "right"?
Is the majority ever wrong?
Does morality ever change?
If morality changes then is it truth?

The majority in Germany were Nazis.
The majority during World War II in Russia were Communists.
What do you think the fight was during the Cold War? You have a majority of people in America who believe in Democracy and you have a majority in Russia who believed in Communism and it was an us vs them (tribalism) putting their common good above the common good or majority of another country. The whole premise is therefore contradictory.

I respectfully suggest Mojo2 and Chuckt reserve judgment, listen to the podcast and read the comments.

God knew how to confuse His people and keep them focused on this world instead of knowing Him.

Genesis 3
24: He drove out the man; and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

I make decisions based on my own beliefs. Religion has no part of it.
