If Trump gets to 1237 before going to the convention the GOP has no choice but to nominate him.
If the GOP attempt to steal the nomination from Trump by changing the rules Trump will walk out of the convention. So will possibly a thousand others who support him.
Keep to mind that 99.9% of the people who voted for Trump in the Primaries will turn out and vote for him in the General.
These voters are seriously pissed off at their party.
If the party tries to screw Trump and by extension these REP voters everyone of these voters will stay home and not vote for any GOP nomination. Thereby handing the Presidency to probably Biden.
If Trump goes to the convention a few delegates short and leads Cruz by a sizable margin the same situation exists.
In addition a large majority of REPs, no matter who the REP nominee will turn out and vote for their party. Unlike the DEMs who tend to vote according to 'The First.......fill in the blanks. Personality over party.
Add in a mix of Independents and some minority voters and Trump can win the Presidency.
Remember many Hillary supporters are sitting on the fence waiting to see if the FBI recommends felony charges.
Bernie's supporters will stay home and get loaded if Hillary gets the nomination.
The negro 'fire wall' ain't so much anymore now that Bill ran his mouth telling BLM's to shove their ludicrous movement up their fat asses.

#1 RE: 1237 - True. If Trump gets 1237 delegates then it's over. The convention then is just an announcement event.

#2 RE: Changing Rules - Not sure what rules you are talking about, the rules for each convention are set by the rules committee for that convention and haven't even been written yet.

#3 RE: Screwing Trump - Why do you think someone (who at this piont) has only been able to muster 37% of the vote? Because if he doesn't get the nomination he'll have a temp tantrum?

#4 RE: Biden getting the Presidency - WTF? That's just silly.

#5 RE: Trump winning - not going to happen. Trump has the highest unfavorable ratings of any GOP candidate in history and once in the General Election you can't win the Presidency if women, blacks, Hispanics etc. are voting against you. So we have two outcomes:

A. Trump wins the GOP Nomination, and the Dem's take the Oval Office and probably takes the Senate with him.

B. Trump doesn't win the nomination and runs as an independent, splitting the GOP meaning we don't take the Oval Office but might have a better chance of keeping the Senate.

We're screwed either way.

Agreed. The GOP isn't going to change the rules to deny Trump the nomination if he has 1237. But, his supporters can scream all they want, if he is short 1 vote of 1237, he isn't going to get the nomination. This process gave us Lincoln and Eisenhower, so I can't see to many people complaining besides Trumpsters.

#2 Changing the rules.
That's the point. The rules haven't yet been set.
What would you think if the NFL 'rules' committee 'changed the rules of the game AFTER they knew which teams would be competing against each other?
This is exactly the scenario Trump is facing if the rules committee decide to 'adjust' the rules to negatively affect Trump's possibility of getting the nomination.
In theory Trump could go to the convention with 1237 and be informed that the rules committee has decided that the new number has to be 1280 delegates.
And don't tell me anything isn't possible this time. It is.
I believe if Trump wins the nomination fair and square 99.999% of those you voted for him in the Primaries will turn out and vote for him in the General.
It's all about turnout.
I do not believe the Sander's supporters are going to turn out for Hillary. They will say "FUCK IT!" and stay home.
That is a hell of a lot of DEM voters when you consider how close the two DEM campaigns are.
Bernie just won seven in a row!
You think those Bernie fans are going to vote for Hillary?
Not very likely.
The negro 'firewall' is a myth. Remember 2014?

GOP wants to lose . They are more comfortable not having the White House , because that would mean they would have act on issues . They'd rather sit back and complain about EVERYTHING the dem prez does.

It sells back in the sticks .

#1 RE Rules: The committee drafts the rules, the delegates vote to approve them on the floor.

#2 RE 99.9% of Trump Voters: 99.9% of 37% of voters that supported him in the primary doesn't win an election. 99.9% (Supporters) of 37% (All Primary Voters) equates to less than 50% in the General Election.

#3 RE 99.9% of Trump Voters: I doubt that, as many were democrats in open primaries attempting to influence the GOP selection. I think in MA there were like 20,000 Dem's that voted for Trump. Most of those will return to the Dem Party for the General.

If the GOP screws Trump out of the nomination we'll see if they can make good on their boast to win the White House without the base.

Trump has only gotten 37% of the vote, and a lot of the base are actually in the Cruz camp. Trump is getting the populist portion of the GOP not the "base". Once we're in the General Election then 37% of 50% of the voting public isn't going to make it.

Face it. We've screwed ourselves this cycle. We keep getting told, "If only we ran a true conservative for the Presidency". Well Santorum, Perry, and Hucklebee got shellacked last time and the more conservative candidate this time is losing.

When will the "base" learn they can't win the Oval Office on their own.

Cruz won't be the nominee, he won even less than Trump. The GOP establishment want's a Jeb, Kasich, or Rubio.

I hope neither Trump or Cruz are the nominee.

I voted for Kasich in the VA primary as the only adult left in the room for the nomination. I don't think Trump is good for the country and I prefer Governors over Senators because they have actually had to exercise executive authority and not just talk about it with no repercussions.
