I believe that our government developed AIDS as a biological weapon.
Did it accidently get loose into the general puplic as an accident?
I presume the rationale behind this belief is something like the following
1 HIV could have evolved any time in the last 500,000 years.
If we divide that time into 10 year chunks then the chance of it evolving in any particular 10 year period is 1 in 50,000
HIV appears to have evolved in the first decade that the technology existed to possibly create it in a lab.
Shaving with Occam's razor it sounds implausible that this was a coincidence, hence it probably was created in a lab.
I follow to that point, but
(at least) Two countries had the ability to conduct such research; the USA and the USSR
No country wants to release a weapon before the critical point of conflict, to prevent the opponent from learning how to counter it.
Thus IF HIV is an-made (a possibility however remote it is deemed) then the scenario I see as most credible is that a Beta test among a simian population escaped into the human population. The government responsible then covered their tracks to avoid recriminations.
Going further - such as stating that HIV/AIDS was a deliberate attempt to destroy colored populations (or homosexual populations) seems to much like lunatic fringe conspiracy to me.
