If you mean the Tamils, that actually began in 1948, when laws were passed that made it very difficult for Tamil youths to go to University, which upset them greatly as the Tamils prided themselves on having huge numbers of them very well-educated.

Then it went further downhill from 1948 until we get right downhill with the Black July massacre against the Tamils in 1983, which led directly to the start of the very ugly Sri Lankan Civil War.

Karen Armstrong believes ALL religions are the same and actually does God even matter....so therefore, her book isn't too be taken as an authority of anything.
